Sometimes there were just times where Adrian had the need to get away from the world and go around to explore. Okay, so maybe not sometimes, more like all the time. Although the point of the matter was, the young Elite 4 member needed a nice breather from time to time. Luckily for today he got that after a large sum of challenges. Besides, his little tech device will be able to alert him to any challengers that arrive anyways, so all was set. Adrian usually just would ride a motorbike when traveling, liking the feel of the wind in his hair. All he had with him was the clingy little Igglybuff, Mikki, with him. The sassy little gumball was always on the road with Adrian these days and often liked seeing new things just as much as the young man himself. It was like a perfect match. If anything, Mikki may very well have picked up on the similar trait for adventure thanks to his time spent with Adrian just in general. With a sigh, the two of them sat on a large boulder somewhere in the mountains, just sitting back and taking a bit to relax from their hike.
Kick. Punch. Side-swipe. Kick. Chop. Punch. The Bonsly panted as she continued attacking the air, slowly moving her way down the path. It was a hard workout regime but it was worth it. She was strong because of all her training. She had yet to be captured by a single trainer. Instead, she had escaped the clutches of five different trainers; a record in the Von Bonsly family. Her brothers and sisters had laughed at all of the training she did but they had mostly all been captured. That was why she needed to keep training. Trainers were becoming more intense and persistent in their battling and capturing, something she needed to be ready for.
After a small break to catch her breath, the Bonsly started again. Kick. Chop. Punch. Kick. Side-swipe. Chop. Kick. Punch. It wasn't long at all until the Pokemon inched towards a boulder where a Pokemon and trainer had their backs to her. The little tree was quick to jump into a bush and blend in. Good, they hadn't seen her yet. It was time for a sneak attack. She was about to get her sixth escape, making the record even higher. Quickly she got in a little warm-up. Kick. Chop. Kick. Punch. Good. She was ready to face the trainer and prove her strength once again. The Bonsly moved out into the open with a few branches she had broken from the bush. She covered herself in the branches and let out a cry loud enough for the trainer to hear. She was prepping her feint attack, hoping to strike while the man was distracted.
Man, it was good to get a moment to relax. Although soon enough time passed enough to where the duo had best move on. Rumors of there being rare stones in this area, which his gramma loved to collect. So often during his explorations Adrian would bring back stones of all sorts for him gramma, who was a very important person to him. Although, he recalled that soon enough he was supposed to help her with a bit of housework and moving furniture around. He could only dread that. As the pair began to get set to begin a trek a sound came and surprised the two of them to a point where looking back wasn't even a considerable option as Mikki was snatched up by Adrian who made a beeline for somewhere safe. Chances were though that as soon as Mikki made the point that it hadn't been anything as large as Adrian had thought, the young man would more than likely feel very embarrassed for running off like it was a raging Tyranitar or something.
Choosing to pass this poogeymanz.

There was something strange about that day. Something very strange. The little Whismur had been following his mother through the cave when a sudden light came across him. In front of the Pokemon was a tiny little opening that was letting in light. How odd. The creature waddled his way towards the opening, forgetting all about his mother for a moment. The little opening was just big enough for him to fit through and after a moment of fidgeting in the hole he popped out into the fresh and open air.
This new place, it was so strange and unique. It was nothing like the cave that he had grown up in all of his life. The Whismur wandered around for a moment in the new world until he saw a trainer standing nearby. He quickly turned to his mother only to find that he had wandered away from her. She was still in the cave and here he was with a trainer standing before him and no protection. The Pokemon began to whimper for a moment before suddenly breaking out in an ear-splitting cry that continued on and on.
Adrian gave a sigh, completely embarrassed when it had been shown by Mikki with the fact that they had booked it out of there due simply to a little Bonsly. Well... There was always a chance to make mistakes, and this sure had been one of those chances. "Well... I guess we should move on. We gotta find a new stone for Gramma." He stated. Although there was an abrupt interruption to his plan when out of the blue a loud wailing began, causing both trainer and Pokemon to cover their hears. Looking around frantically Adrian took note of a Whismur, which seemed to be... Crying? Well, it sure hurt he knew for sure. Slowly he approached, still covering his ears before trying to shout out and see if the Whismur could hear him. "Hey! It's alright! We aren't going to hurt you! Calm down please!" Although it was more of a plead than is was a request. Adrian kind of needed his hearing in order to live his life to a fuller extent. Mikki meanwhile was sticking back, looking quite angry with this loud-mouthed Pokemon that was just wailing non-stop. Although he tried to restrain himself from beating the living crap out of this thing. Adrian would handle it hopefully.
After beginning his wail, the Whismur attracted quite a bit of attention. A few of the mountain birds became annoyed at his noise and quickly left. There was a young little Teddiursa that began to cry too before her mother picked her up and carried her away. Finally, there was a young trainer with an Igglybuff that approached him with their ears covered in an attempt to calm the lost Pokemon. Alas, the crying Pokemon barely noticed them at first because while the trainer had been yelling, it was no match for the sobs that the Whismur was making. It was only after a minute had nearly passed that the creature noticed the figure of a human through his teary eyes. Slowly the wailing began to die down until it was a small and meager whimper. The Pokemon ran up to the trainer, hugging his leg tightly for fear of losing someone who had been so kind to not runaway from him.
Adrian was feeling so glad that the wailing had soon enough died down, able to uncover his ears finally. Mikki the same, just as glad as his trainer that the loud sound had finally ceased. Although it came as a slight surprise when suddenly the Whismur has latched into Adrian's leg. The young man stood there, considering his options before bending down a bit. "Hey, little guy. You lost or something?" He asked, attempting to give the Whismur a small rub on the top if it's head. Well, it was cute if he had to say so himself. "No need to be scare you know. We can always help you get back home, if you have one..." Adrian told the Whismur softly, trying to sound comforting. It was the least he could do in the long run for the scared Pokemon. Mikki meanwhile stayed back, pouting because he wasn't getting the attention like he usually should be. The Igglybuff always having preferred to be the center of any sort of attention. He was pretty needy at times and also rather sassy when he felt like it. It was like the whole saying. 'It's not the size of the Lillipup in the fight, but the size of the fight in the Lillipup.' Boy did Mikki sure prove that. The Igglybuff was always finding chances to boss around Adrian's poor dragons. It was admittedly a pretty comical thing to see though for anyone who came across the scene.
The trainer was talking to the Whismur but he wasn't paying the slightest of attention. The leg was so warm and soft. It reminded him of the only other soft thing in the cave where he lived, his mother. Was this really just his mother that had evolved again? No, that was silly... Or was it? The Pokemon nuzzled his head against the leg for a moment before finally tuning into what was being said. '...you get back home, if you have one...' Well that proved that the trainer wasn't just an evolved form of his mother. He guessed that it would be a good idea to get back home. His mother was probably rampaging in the cave looking for him.
The Whismur loosened his grip on the trainer's leg but kept one hand on the leg just to make sure they were going together. He looked around for a moment before realizing he wasn't sure where the opening he had snuck through was. He put one hand over his eyes to attempt and see better but it was useless. He would just have to guess a direction and head there. The Pokemon pointed up the trail a bit, starting to walk before he shook his head. He pointed to the east and began to head back into the trees before stopping and once again shaking his head. None of it felt right. None of those directions felt like home. The Whismur began to whimper again, only seconds away from breaking out into another wail.
The Whismur seemed a bit better now, which was good. Soon after his offer came about finding it's home the tiny Pokemon began to lead Adrian and Mikki in different directions, seemingly lost after all when each direction was an abrupt stop and turned back. Although the scary part was when a small whimper came out, causing Adrian to panic a bit. Suddenly he bent down to pick the Whismur up. "Ah... No need to cry again! It's okay, how about we just search around. Just don't cry." He pleaded as he started to slowly walk a bit, looking around to see if he could locate anywhere that may be home-like. Well, where did Whismur usually live again? Oh yeah, caves! There should be plenty within the area from what Adrian was sure of. Well, this was a mountain after all. So there had to be caves!
The young man began to wander around a bit, seeking out different areas and also having Mikki go scout around as well. The Igglybuff doing so and usually checking back in with Adrian when he could. The search at first seemed to be fruitless, until finally Mikki seemed to find something and had Adrian go check it out. Where they stood was the large entrance to a dark cavern. Adrian gave a gulp. "Does this look right?" He asked the Whismur hopefully.
Soon after the whimpers began, the trainer calmed the poor Whismur. He started to lead the expedition to find the Pokemon's home. It wasn't long after the search began that the trio found a large cave entrance. The man asked the little Pokemon if it looked like his home or not. The Whismur paused for a moment, putting one of his little hands on his nonexistent chin. He had never seen the actual entrance to the cave because his mother feared that trainers would snatch him up if he was on the main path. And in their wandering it had been a tiny crack in the cave wall that he had to squeeze through in order to get out into the open world... The entrance could have been the cave where he lived but then again it could have been just another random cave.
The Whismur looked up at the trainer and shrugged. He was just as clueless as the human was. The only way to continue their quest of finding his mother would be to enter and explore. But what trainer would want to do that for such a lousy mama's boy. The Pokemon frowned, keeping his whimpers to a minimum not to upset the trainer. He would never find his mother because he was not a strong Pokemon and he couldn't do it himself.
With a slight itch of his head Adrian sighed. Although soon enough an idea came to him. "Hey, do you think there is a chance you could call out to your family and that they may come and find you?" He asked the Whismur. With that loud crying, he realized perhaps if that could echo far enough into the cave, maybe they could either get a response or possibly know if there was nobody familiar to the young Pokemon in question. At least, it would seemingly be worth a shot in the eyes of the young trainer. He knew some Pokemon did communicate through sounds over long distances, so perhaps Whismur had a similar system? Their voices were loud enough to do that sort of thing even if not.
"Well... Think you could give it a try?" Adrian asked hopefully. Please, please let this work. If all else failed, they could just enter the cave and hope they could not die in the process due to some unfortunate accident with a rock slide or cave in. That would kind of be a drag, and a major hinder on his league work. Since a dead league member couldn't really take challenges.
The trainer continued to stand at the edge of the cave, asking if the Whismur could call for any of his species in an attempt to find his mother. It was actually a good idea. His wail was unique to their species and his mother would be able to recognize it in the echoes if she heard it. The hard part would be following the echoes to him, but that was something that could be worked out later. The little Pokemon waddled into the cave a little farther, looking back to the trainer for encouragement. He looked back into the cave before his ears lifted and a small whimper escaped his mouth. Soon an ear-splitting wail was released that echoed throughout the cave. After a moment of echoing a whistle came from deep within the cave. His mother!! The Whismur turned to the trainer, jumping with joy, thankful that he had been willing to help him.
Adrian covered his ears when that loud wail came from the Whismur, although once it had died down he was relieved and watched the Whismur. He heard that whistle as well, and when the Whismur seemed pretty happy about that it also made Adrian smile as well. "I guess that is your family then." He said, kneeling down. "Do you want to head in and find them? I should have a flashlight so we can find our way if we need it." He mentioned. Taking a moment, Adrian rummaged through his bad a bit to search for the flashlight he had brought along, finally able to find it and pulled it out. Flicking the switch it soon was able to send a beam of light through the cave, lighting up the darkness and revealing a surprisingly pretty place with some areas hosting small piles of glistening stones. Quickly he advanced inside a bit and knelt beside one of the piles of stone. "Wow! This is amazing! Your home is incredible!" He told the Whismur, picking up one of the glittering stones and examining it. "Oh man, these are all so nice. I have never seen any like these before..." He murmured to himself a bit, Mikki walking over to join him in checking out the stones within the cave. "I wonder if these are natural..." He murmured, suddenly pulling out a small roughed up journal and beginning to jot down some notes within the pages for records.
Once the returning cry had been heard, the trainer pulled out a flashlight, still willing to help the little Whismur find his way home. How wonderful! The wild Pokemon pressed forward into the cave, not noticing that the trainer that had promised to accompany him was not following behind. It was once he was completely surrounded by the darkness that he realized the beam of the flashlight was no longer with him and that his escort had disappeared. Quietly at first, the Whismur began to whimper before his whimpers began to turn into wails that shook the entire cave, causing dirt to fall from the ceiling.
Balloons! Balloons galore! There were balloons and a cake set up in the most fashionable style. Everyone was there enjoying the balloons and cake and music. Oh it was the perfect party that the Mawile had thrown for her birthday. Or so she thought. A sudden and loud cry jerked the Pokemon out of her dream and into reality. The creature grumbled to herself as she stood. Who was making that horrible sound and disrupting her sleep? She marched forward, the anger festering in her bones as silence took the cave once again. She needed to find the source of the noise and make sure it did not make another wail so that she could return to her sleeping.
The Mawile was a little disorientated by the echoes to tell where the sound had come from but she guess somewhere near the main path through the cave. She would start at the entrance and work her way down from there before she would find the creature and destroy it. As she neared the entrance a loud wailing began to shake the cave. The Pokemon growled and quickened her pace until she saw a trainer. Was something with him that was making the noise? She turned herself around and made a loud crying noise in hopes that the trainer would see and or hear her while she appeared non-threatening. It would be then that she would strike.
Will Adrian chase after the Whismur and ignore the Mawile or leave the Whismur to find his mother on his own?
There was a moment in time where Adrian was just a bit too into his discovery. Although suddenly there came a loud wailing, causing Adrian to realize that the Whismur has wandered too far from him! As soon as that cry came he was up on his feel, turning only briefly to note the sound of another Pokemon. A shiny Mawile in fact. Although Adrian didn't have time. The Whismur had probably been depending on him to help find it's family. Shoving one of the glittering stones into his pocket, Adrian rushed into the cave with flashlight in hand and working to dodge the dirt that was being shaken from the cave's roof. "Hold on, I am coming!" He shouted into the cave, albeit the fact that the Whismur likely couldn't hear that.
Finally though, just finally! His light beam suddenly found a small figure with a familiar look and quickly Adrian ran over and knelt down to put a hand on the Whismur's head to try and calm it. "Take it easy, I am here now!" He shouted, trying to get his words to the Whismur's ears. While he attempted to calm the wailing Pokemon, inside he felt a strong sense of relief in that he had located the Whismur unharmed.
After just a moment of his wailing, the beam of light washed back over the Whismur. His crying began to slowly quiet as the familiar voice of the trainer reached his ears. The Pokemon was quick to run to the leg of the trainer, hugging it just as he had before when the man had saved him. His silent whimpers were a sign that he was done with his crying for a moment. The wild creature looked up to the trainer, hoping that he would lead the way. He had just attempted to lead the way and look where that got them. Obviously the human was much better at leading the group than the Whismur.
Finally the crying died down a bit and Adrian gave a sigh in relief. Not only that the loud sound was gone, but also since the Whismur was safe. "Glad you are okay, but you need to be careful about wandering off from here on out, okay?" He told the Pokemon with a reassuring smile before standing back up. He looked around and let his beam of light wash over the whole of the cave, seeing only one path. Well, this was pretty straightforward it seemed so perhaps they should just continue moving on. "Alright, let's keep going and see if we can find your family." Adrian said to the Whismur before setting off at an easygoing pace, as to ensure he would end up being too fast for the Pokemon.
Mikki meanwhile was sitting atop Adrian's head, although not really pleased with this all. Okay, sure he did need to get used to this all and being less anti-social, but for now the Igglybuff was just the sassy little puffball that he was. "Can you give another call to your family again?" He asked the Whismur, hoping that in time they could perhaps locate the family as long as they kept calling for it on occasion, in order to ensure they were going the correct route.
The trainer led the Whismur onward as he clung to the leg of the human. After a while of walking straight, the trainer asked if the Pokemon could call again to his mother in hopes of a response. He gave a small nod before stepping out and letting out a loud cry. It took almost a minute before the whistle was heard again. This time the response was much closer, most likely a short walk off to the right. The little Pokemon jumped up and down, returning to the trainer's leg and tugging on his pants. He wanted to run to his mother but he feared leaving the beam of light and getting lost again.
He eagerly began to tug at the man's leg, pulling him off to the left in hopes that the beam of light would soon cross over the Exploud the Whismur knew as his mother.
Adrian let the Whismur call out and soon after came the whistle in which Adrian was sure was the family, since the Whismur was so excited about that. With a small tug on his pants Adrian followed the young Whismur and let his flashlight shine ahead of them, seeking out one of the family members of the young Pokemon. It really would be rewarding to see this little guy get back to his family. Adrian knew how it felt to be lost, since once as a kid he had wandered a bit to far away. Sure, not enough to completely get lost, but far enough that he didn't know where he was. If not for his parents' Noivern, he would have likely ended up wandering even further away.
Adrian watched ahead of them, also ensuring that he didn't accidentally step on the Whismur attached to his leg. That would be quite a bummer. "I bet you are eager to get back home, huh?" Adrian commented, smiling slightly to himself. Adrian had to also chuckle at himself a bit. It wasn't every day in which a trainer would pass up not only the chance for a pretty easy catch, but also the chance to catch a Shiny Pokemon as well. Although, Adrian wasn't really your typical trainer now was he?
It was after a moment of walking that the Exploud came into view. The little Whismur let out cries of joy as he ran to his mother, hugging her leg tightly. She embraced her child lovingly though her eyes never left the trainer. With her son safely returned to her, she ushered him back into the heart of the cavern where he went, happily. She would surely have to scold him when they returned home. He had her worried half to death by disappearing like that. The Whismur himself had no concern for the future and was just happy to live in the moment. Just before being engulfed by the shadows of the cave, he turned and gave one final wave to the trainer. It was a symbol of gratitude and thanks. Perhaps if the trainer returned one day the Whismur would be able to repay the service that he owed to Adrian.
