"Right. Sorry." Davey bowed his head Davey's week in Crystal City consisted of nothing but interviews and he had to admit, he was sick of doing interviews. The same questions were asked over and over and they all took place very early in the morning. He had been so busy, Angel and he hardly got a chance to be alone. The young pokémon loved the attention she was recieving but at the same time, she too wanted the affection and love of her trainer. Davey wants to give it to her too but his attention is always on the hostess and the camera which will broadcast the interview across Rakuen. The only alone time the two got was at night, which is when Davey is too tired to do anything but wrap his arms around the balloon-like pokémon and fall asleep.
Today would be different. Davey would not be doing any interviews but for the first time since he received his pokémon, he will be spending time with her. He will be taking her out in public but in disguise. If he appeared as Davey Perez the teen idol in public, the two would be ambushed by a crowd of people before he would even know it. Before he left his hotel that morning to go shopping, he put on a curly black wig and glasses and he had to admit, he looked like a different person.
"What do you think, Angel?" He asked as he fixed the wig in front of a mirror. The igglybuff was floating about the room and when her trainer asked for her opinion, she stopped and took a glimpse at him, shaking her body in disapproval. She hated it. "I know, I know. Its all George could find and we have to keep a low profile." He told her. "Now, come on. Let's go out!"
A half hour later, Davey and Angel found themselves in a pokémon clothing store. The store was exquisite, full of clothes that would cost the average man his entire paycheck. Davey was going around the store, picking things out for his pokémon and not once did he look at the price tag. "Angel look! A diamond studded bow." He pointed out something he saw in a display case. "If we ever decide on which movie we will star in, you could wear it on the red carpet and steal the show!" The two hovered over the case, Davey's hands were pressed against it too. He glanced at his beloved pokémon and he could see how much she liked it. Angel's eyes had a certain sparkle to it when she like something, he learned that the first day he had her. He caught the attention of a cashier and told them he wanted it and they didn't hesitate to give it to him.
After paying for everything, Davey walked out of the shop with his hands full of bags. "Where should we go next?" He asked Angel, who was still floating.
"Come on, Cubone! Everyone's waiting for us at the park!"
A boy about the same age as Davey was running his way, a cubone at his side. The boy was looking at his pokémon when he collided with Davey, knocking them both down. "Ouch!" Davey dropped his bags too and started rubbing his head.
"Sorry!! I'm just in a rush and I didn't see you!" The boy was quick to get up, helping Davey collect his bags. "Whoa this is some pretty expensive stuff dude! Did you just come out of that pokémon store? Do you have a pokémon!! Oh, dude you should totally visit Crystal Park if you do, trainers go there to battle!" The boy looked at Angel for a brief second. "Dude, if you decide to visit, I hope you have a different pokémon." The stranger looked at his pokédex, his eyes started to get big than he left before Davey could even ask any questions.
"Why can't I use my igglybuff?" He didn't see anything wrong with her. She was capable to battling... at least he believed so. "It doesn't matter, Angel do you want to have your first battle!" He grabbed the pokémon by her stubby arm and ran in the same direction the boy ran in. The park was not too far off and you couldn't miss it. The park was more of a amphitheater than park, really. A large area had been surrounded by seating tiers, where only a few people sat. The area had been occupied by different battle grounds, which were all occupied by two or more trainers fighting. Pokémon went head to head and the battles were very tense, Davey could feel it. He was pumped himself, the teen could not wait to have his first battle. He sat on one of the tiers, Angel soon joined him, sitting in lap as he watched a grass type pokémon and fire type go at it.
The match was intense, he had to admit. "Pay close attention, okay?" Davey kept his eyes on the pokémon and their trainers. There was a special bond between the two as they battled. Both trainers and pokémon understood each other, they were confident too. Davey took note of this as he watched. He was thinking of battling himself.

As I cannot find the answer here
Ryusuke had to admit, overall he was pleasantly surprised.
When the guides onboard the ferry had told Ryusuke that the first Gym wasn't in Yayli but rather Crystal City beyond it and that the Leader's specialty was Dark types, Ryusuke had honestly been bracing himself. Whether or not it was intentional Gyms tended to mirror their respective cities and vice versa - Hoenn had gotten lucky due to the region's rather strong focus on sustainable technologies and lifestyles, but other places, not so much. Castelia in Unova was the closest comparison that Ryusuke could think of on seeing the city map for Crystal, and that place had been a dump. An engineering marvel to be sure, particularly the bridge that connected it to Pinwheel Forest and the smaller town beyond it, but the pollution had been extremely noticeable to the point where it had been difficult to walk down a street for more than five minutes without stepping or tripping over something less than desirable. And the water? It was a miracle than anything other than Tentacool and Grimer had managed to eke out a living in that cesspool.
If anything, though, Crystal City's atmosphere reminded Ryusuke more of Lilycove, or Humilau - or, for a closer comparison, Cyllage City in Kalos. Clean water, clean air, and while the buildings had been forced to be constructed with limited space in mind due to the cliffs surrounding the city, it didn't feel the least bit cramped. No sign of gangs, either, which was a refreshing change of pace compared to the likes of Saffron, Goldenrod or Arceus help him, Pyrite and Gateon - sure, Ryusuke was more than able to defend himself when push came to shove, hell, even hit back harder than what he got, but it wasn't a nice feeling to have to constantly be looking over one's shoulder just for a stroll around the city.
Which, frankly, was exactly what he was doing. A quick trip to the Pokemon Center had been in order after arriving in the city as neither he nor his Pokemon had bothered to stop and rest in Yayli, but a couple of hours later and they were set to go. First order of business normally would be to check out the Gym - at least Ryusuke assumed so, as he'd never run a regional Gym circuit before - but the trainer near Yayli had changed that. She'd been tough, and that had been only with a single Pokemon. Tough enough to stand up to Grovyle, which was something very few Pokemon managed to do for any length of time. If that woman and her Alakazam were the standard for the trainers in this region, Ryusuke and his team were going to be in for a rough time - Gym Leaders tended to be a whole other level above the rank and file, and even with prep time that didn't bode well for his chances against them if his worst case assumptions about the local trainers were right.
Continuing down the sidewalk with Grovyle in tow a short distance behind him, Ryusuke would stop just long enough to glance at the iron gate dividing the city on his right from the greenery to his left before continuing in. According to the receptionist at the Pokemon Center, most of the local trainers tended to frequent the city park for their battles - a bit different from what Ryusuke was used to in the other regions, but he wasn't going to complain. It was convenient, and would allow him to get a good look at the competition. Another few minutes spent walking, and both trainer and Pokemon would soon find themselves at their destination. As the path came to an end and the carefully grown forest seemed to simply stop, the ground would drop away and into an amphitheater below - the path Ryusuke had been taking continuing down but changing into the stairs that made up the walk space between the bleachers. And, clearly, he wasn't the first one there.
Lining many of the bleachers below were trainers of various ages, seemingly from almost every possible walk of life Ryusuke could think of in the city. Students, businessmen likely on their afternoon break, career trainers like himself, some on their own, others with their Pokemon already out and beside them. All with their attention focused on the open area at the bottom, where two other trainers stood wide apart and facing one another, already locked in a battle between their respective Pokemon, a Ludicolo and a Magmar. Not weak Pokemon by any means, but even at a glance the two pairs didn't give off nearly the same vibe that the psychic Ryusuke had battled did.
Simply standing there and watching as the battle continued on, it eventually took Grovyle elbowing Ryusuke in the knee to draw the trainer's focus back to his immediate surroundings, as well as the fact that he was blocking one of the exits out of the amphitheater. No one trying to enter or leave yet, but that could change in a hurry. Moving ahead to make his way down the steps below, Ryusuke would sidestep into one of the bleachers furthest back to avoid crossing in front of any of the other trainers below, Grovyle following the blonde in to take a seat next to his human as both settled in to observe the others present.
Each time a battle would end, another one would soon begin. You had to claim a battle field fast- it was a first come, first served kind of thing and many wanted to be the first to claim the field. A battle would begin once the battle ground was claimed and tension sooned filled the air. It was thick like molasses, the trainers were a tad bit stressed- the idea of winning was beginning to way on them. Davey watched each trainer's face expression closely and some were determined to win and others' faces expressed some kind of pride. The cocky trainers always had a smug look as if they had already won the battle. Once the battles began, you could not take your eyes off it. Davey's eyes were glued to every battle and he began to pick up on a few things. The first thing he noticed is that every individual pokémon has their own unique battle style, including those who were of the same species. Another thing he noticed is that most of the trainers did not hesitate, telling their pokémon the next move they'll used when their turn had come about.
"Are you seeing what I'm seeing Angel? Pay close attention." He poked his cute little igglybuff to get her attention. Indeed, the pink ball was paying attention but she was not taking notes like her trainer, rather telling herself which pokémon she could beat. The baby pokémon had big dreams she could not yet accomplish and that was something her trainer was not fully aware of. "Do you think we're ready? I mean, we're both kinda new to this sort of thing." He looked down at his pokémon and he could see the determination in her face. He didn't want to disappoint her now. If Angel felt ready, he would should too.
Sadly, he didn't. He wanted to have his first battle but was this the time? Did his little igglybuff have what it takes to take down a pokémon her size or bigger was the real question he had. He did not want to set her up for failure; he didn't want to fail her either. It would hurt him a lot if he failed her. The actor did not possess a lot of confidence now, especially after seeing the other trainers and their pokémon here. He would like to practice a bit before having his first battle. To take the time out and check out his igglybuff's moves wouldn't hurt and just might boost his confidence. But where would he find someone willing to help him practice? A lot of the trainers in the amphitheater almost seemed beyond that point and might not want to help out someone who was not.
Davey would take a gamble anyway. He watched a young man, not too much older than himself enter the amphitheater on the opposite side he was on. He stood in the entrance for a moment, watching the battle that had been going on with a nonchalant look. By his side was Grovyle. Davey has never seen one before, pointing his pokédex in the direction of the Grovyle and listening to it explain what one was. When his pokédex was done, he continued to watch the two. The Grovyle playfully nudged his trainer and they exchange a look that made Davey gasp.
He did not know much about pokémon or even what it meant to be a trainer. But what he did know is that the bond between a trainer and his pokémon could easily be spotted through little movements and actions. His mother taught him that. She told him about her days as an Elite four, how she determined how strong a trainer was by the relationship he or she shared with their pokémon. The bond between a trainer and their pokémon says a lot. A strong bond screams, 'We have trust in each other and we know what moves to use and when to use 'em.' Davey could hear his mother's voice in his head, he remembers exactly what she said. The Grovyle was the last of its evolution stage too, so Davey highly doubted the trainer didn't know what he was doing. Perhaps he could help Davey and his pokémon.
Getting up, Davey let go of his Igglybuff, allowing her to move freely. Instead of floating like she usually would, Angel bounced up and down like a rubber ball. They were side by side, approaching the blonde and his pokémon. Davey's hands were becoming a little sweaty the closer they got to him. He's never had stage fright and he's never been a nervous wreck auditioning for movies. Why was he feeling this way now? His throat was becoming a little dry too, he did not feel how dry it was until he was in front of the blonde and began speaking, "Uh, hi. I'm Daveeeeeee- Dave, just Dave and I saw you come in a minute ago. I, uh- you're not from Rakuen are you? I was born here and I just go my pokémon, see? She's an igglybuff and she's really cute. I love her! I from Yayli town but I was born in Pacu Village, have you been there? Of course not, you're not from here are you? You look like you could be from the Kalos region, don't ask me how I know but the Kalos region, right? I don't see too many Grovyle around here." He couldn't get to the question. What was so hard about asking for a battle? A practice one or whatever you would call it.

As I cannot find the answer here
So much for any concerns Ryusuke might have had.
As the first match that he and Grovyle had arrived to came to a close and another pair of trainer immediately took to the momentarily vacant battlefield, it was quickly becoming rather apparent that the trainer he'd battled that morning was not one of the rank and file. The local trainers there at the park were good, very good, but only as far as the average went. They were skilled, yes, but lacked that spark that the Gym Leaders had - the same kind of dedication that many of the higher ranked trainers strove for. The feeling Ryusuke was getting, honestly, was more and more that most of these people viewed battling in the same light that he himself once did. A living, nothing more. A means to an end, a way to pay the bills and feed yourself while traveling. Or, in the case of the more obviously local and many of the younger - or to the opposite extreme, older - individuals there, just a hobby, plain and simple.
The more Ryusuke sat and observed, though, the more his mind began to drift elsewhere. Not completely off topic, but meandering from one related line of thought to the other. If this was how strong the local trainers were, what did that mean for the Gym? More often than not Gym Leaders were picked from the trainers in the same area as the Gyms themselves, and to a certain degree there was good reason for that. Many of the Leaders deliberately chose that lifestyle, actively seeking to take the Leader Exam rather than being scouted by the League. And once you were a Leader, why leave home if there wasn't a Gym there already? As important as the role might've been, it didn't pay particularly well. Just whatever earnings you got from the trainers you defeated and a small, monthly allowance from the League itself for Gym maintenance. Not much money at all, which usually meant a night job for many of them.
Then again, in such a case where there were no suitable trainers already present to act as Leader and if there was a Gym present, either abandoned by the previous Leader or prebuilt as part of a regional circuit, it wasn't unheard of for the League to pay for Leaders to move to the city in question. From what Ryusuke had heard, Norman of Petalburg back in Hoenn was one such Leader, having originally been a Johto trainer before taking the job. So, what was it? Skilled local trainer, or someone from another town or ever another region? In the end, did it even really matter? Regardless of where they came from they would've needed to pass the Leader Exam, and that thing wasn't easy to take no matter where you were from. Either way the relative skill would be roughly the same, but the Pokemon they used might not be depending on where they were from.......
Even as Ryusuke began to do his thing again where he would begin drifting off into his own little world of thought, however, Grovyle would remain far more alert to their surroundings, having grown rather bored with watching the fighting and defaulting to gazing at the scenery around the two. When one of the many individual trainers in the amphitheater began to head towards the pair, the movement did not go unnoticed by the Wood Gecko, the Pokemon's yellow eyes shifting to lock on to the other duo as they approached. An Igglybuff? Definitely a newer trainer from the look of it, which explained why they weren't jumping up to battle like the other locals were. Which begged the question, what did the other pair want from him or, more likely, Ryusuke? Whatever the case, as soon as the other trainer stopped and began to speak it seemed to snap the blonde out of his little world with a jolt, gaze shifting over to Dave as he introduced himself.
"Nnnnoo, I'm not." Ryusuke started, voice slow and measured as he began to process the initial torrent of words only to begin drowning in more as the younger trainer continued to talk. Talking was something that he seemed to do a lot, and several more moments would pass before a rather awkward silence would fall - Dave likely waiting for a response, and Ryusuke simply watching the other trainer and waiting to make sure that when he did begin to answer, it was after the kid was actually finished. In truth, the blonde was admittedly a bit weirded out to an extent. It was a very, very rare occasion that anyone asked him anything remotely personal much less took note of him, and whenever it happened in the past it was more often or not a person that Ryusuke knew rather well after spending a few days or weeks with them in some shape or form. Grovyle, for his part, was less than helpful, having actually moved off to the side to observe what was likely going to be nothing more than a very entertaining show for him.
"..... Hoenn, actually, and yeah, ferry came in at Yayli. Been to Kalos, didn't care too much for the time I spent there." Ryusuke answered, Grovyle merely glancing over to his trainer at what both knew to be a major understatement. A glance that Ryusuke largely ignored - he wasn't really one to divulge personal history if he didn't have to, and it wasn't like he went around bugging people for their life stories. Although, that did bring things right back around to the kid that looked like he was about to drown in his own flop sweat.
"Sorry, not really good at the whole 'people' thing, but did you need something? Not trying to be rude, but most people don't talk to me without a reason." Ryusuke continued. Blunt, yes, but honest. People were never his strong suit, and the sooner that was cleared up, the better. More often than not Ryusuke honestly didn't care what other people thought of him, but the kid looked nervous enough as it was - last thing Ryusuke wanted to do was inadvertently intimidate him, and on that note the trainer made a quick check with his hands, touching the fingers of the left and right together to make sure he was wearing his gloves. Yes? Good.
"Hoenn! Oh its so pretty there. I love Hoenn, you know I once did a movi-", he clamped his hand over his mouth to stop himself. He then slowly put his hand down by his side."I once did a uh... uh... moving? Yes, moving from there." Davey nodded, grinning. It was hard for him not to be... well, him. He was Davey Perez, Sweetheart is what the media called him. He was a big time actor, a teen role model and runway model. That's not something he was willing to hide either. He's only been Dave for less than a minute and he didn't like it. He didn't like lying about who he is. But he also wanted to experience what it was like being a normal trainer and that just wasn't possible if he acted and looked like the actor people know he is. He just had to swallow his pride this once and do what needs to be done.
"Yes... I really want to ask you something but I'm a little afraid to. I'm new to this whole training thing- you can obviously see that. I got my very first pokémon last week and we've yet to have our first battle." The igglybuff floated in front of Davey, blocking his view of the young man. She felt he was giving too much of his time to the other trainer and she was becoming rather bored of the conversation. He smiled at Angel, hooking her with one arm and moving her to his side. The pink ball squirmed at his side, trying her hardest to escaped his grip. She did so, soon falling on one of the benches and bouncing back up. The pokémon liked the feeling of bouncing and before you knew it, she was bouncing around like a rubber ball.
"She's so silly. I love her!" Davey laughed, he almost forgot the request he was going to make. "Oh, yes, I almost forgot. We've yet to have our first battle. Don't laugh but I really don't know how to battle pokémon." He looked at the ground as his mocha colored cheeks began to turn a bright red. "But you do. I just know you do. Look at your Grovyle, he's a... well, grovyle!" He smiled at the other pokémon. He was a pretty cool looking pokémon. The leafy green grovyle looked as if he could blend into any forest-like area. Davey wished he could give something to him. A puffin maybe; Angel was sent many of those in little cute gift baskets. Maybe he'll give one to this trainer if he agreed to take up his offer."Will you please have a battle with me? I know Angel doesn't look like much but she knows a few moves that I think will wow you! And me, I've never seen her in action. I really need to get the feel for this whole battle thing and you will help me won't you?"
There was a battle that was coming to an end. It was between an Empoleon and a Braixen and obviously the Empoleon was winning. The Braixen took one more blow before calling it quits. Davey's back was turned but he could hear the battle ending and the winner being declared. If he wanted to have his first battle fast, he better have it now and he better claim that field. Before the blonde answered him, Davey twirled around and yelled, "My buddy and I are next! We claim that spot!" He was afraid to look Ryusuke in the eyes. Davey would make a bad impression but he was a bit desperate at the moment. He faced the other male though, cringing a bit. "Please, please, please!" He still didn't give the boy a chance to respond, jumping from bleacher to bleacher all the way down to the center of the amphitheater until he reached the part of the field he claimed. Angel followed, bouncing on each one she came across.
"You haven't given me your name yet!" He hollered to him, he was so far away.

As I cannot find the answer here
.... that was a bit of an odd stutter at the end there. Odd enough that Ryusuke normally would've taken it for the other trainer correcting himself before saying something that they would've regretted, but then again...... the blonde honestly wouldn't have been able to care less about that. There'd been a few sentences like that so far, but short of being some serial killer or member of a gang like the Rockets Dave's life was his own. What he did for a living or in his spare time was really no concern of Ryusuke's, and it wasn't like he'd asked for the newer trainer's life story. Dave wanted to keep that secret, fine. What came after that initial stumble and slightly off tangent rant again, though, was something that Ryusuke had admittedly been both expecting and hoping to avoid, the latter even more so now that he knew exactly how new a trainer Dave was.
A week. A week was not enough to be taking on other trainers, plain and simple, especially ones that had been at this as long as Ryusuke himself had. Granted, while Ryusuke wasn't particularly one to boast about it anymore as he might have been a few years ago, he'd had something of a head start on the lifestyle already, and as much as he was loathe to admit it the blonde had his mother's blood - battling came naturally to him and his team, and most run of the mill trainers generally were going to find themselves outmatched. Half the reason he'd admittedly come to that park to begin with - that trainer at the cliffs had nearly beaten him, and that had been unusual enough to warrant a fair degree of concern if the Gyms were even better than she was.
Back on topic, though.... Dave was going to be much better suited by finding wild Pokemon near the city to challenge. Relatively risk free encounters if he played them right, at least theoretically speaking, although that line of thought almost made the scar hidden just under Ryusuke's hairline twinge. Okay, so not entirely risk free - his own first day as an official trainer hadn't exactly ended well or been devoid of painful lessons. There was that, and the fact that overall it was considered incredibly rude to turn down challenges from any trainer, no matter their skill level or amount of experience... Dave was at least right in that you only got better with practice, but even before Ryusuke could properly respond the rookie called out to claim the field as the current battle ended, effectively making the decision for him. A decision that was met with a rather painful elbow jab to the side from Grovyle, the Grass type barely able to hold back the smirk that came with watching someone else's problems unfold.
What was that word? Schadenfreude?
"Yeah, I get it. And don't look so smug, one of these days it's going to be you, not me." Ryusuke mumbled, pushing off of the bench to stand and begin walking down to the arena below. Grovyle, in response, merely shrugged and settled in to watch the show - whether or not the grin on the Pokemon's face was looking forward to Ryusuke's discomfort in battling and newbie trainer or the potential loss of either was left entirely up for debate, but in either case the devious little sadist was probably going to get his money's worth, so to speak. Actually, on that note...... something else that needed to be covered. While Ryusuke was going to make an effort to keep the battle as even as he reasonably could, there was one other mattered that needed to be addressed before they started.
"It's Ryusuke. Going to make this clear off the bat, but not interested in winnings from this. It's your first battle, so I'm guessing you're alright with cash prizes not being involved?" Ryusuke called out to Dave in response to the other trainer's question, meanwhile mentally going over which Pokemon he had with him and which would make for the most even fight. Half the issue, honestly, was the Igglybuff. Ryusuke didn't know much about the things aside from their evolutionary line and typing, and Fairies had never been a Pokemon type that Ryusuke had been well versed in. Dragon, Grass, Fire, Flying and Steel types had always been his strong points, admittedly due to family history involving them either on his dad's or mother's sides. But Fairy? Fairy was one he knew nothing about before his time working for the Safari Zone, and that job had only lasted for a handful of months, hardly enough time to call himself an expert as many of his other relatives were with their respective type specialties. In the end, all Ryusuke really saw for it was to pick the weakest Pokemon he had and wing it from there, a gloved hand dropping to his belt to pluck a single Pokeball from it and pop it open with a button press - in front of him materializing a small, blue and orange Pokemon that stood almost at attention, clearly a Water type.
"First move's yours. Show us what you already know."
Davey has come across many people in the past who claimed to be antisocial yet none of them stuck to their word like Ryusuke. If Davey did not spot him walking in, he would hardly know he was there. He hasn't known him for long but he's been around people long enough to know just something about him. The young man kept to himself. He was obviously a thinker. Most likely keeping everything he wants to say to himself. It was people like him Davey was curious about. Usually, people shared their thoughts, how they feel; everything with him. But Ryusuke was different. He only spoke when Davey spoke to him and Davey did most of the talking in his opinion. Davey wondered what he was thinking. Even now, Davey's new opponent was quiet as he joined him on the field.
He was enthusiastic about his first battle and so was Angel. But Davey still stood there with a jittery feeling. This is what we wanted, this is what we wanted. Davey thought. There was no backing out now. He wanted this battle and therefore, it would be given to him. Was he prepared? Possibly and even if he was not prepared for this battle, it was just practice. He knew that but his cocky little friend did not. The igglybuff narrowed her eyes at the trainer. In her eyes, she could take down any pokémon he threw at her. Angel though she was the greatest pokémon ever.
"I'm fine with that!" Davey nodded. He didn't have any money on him anyway. He spent most of his money at that pokémon boutique, buying a bunch of useless clothing for his new pokémon. He agreed with Ryusuke too, this was his very first battle and compared to the blond, he was a novice trainer and Angel was a baby pokémon. The chances of him winning was little to nothing. He sent Angel forward, waiting for his opponent to choose a pokémon. He watched Ryusuke fickle with his belt of pokémon before finally plucking one off and tossing it. A cute blue and orange pokémon appeared, delighted to be out. It was an adorable pokémon in his eyes, he pointed his pokédex at it to identify what sort of pokémon it was. The masculine voice came from his pokédex, explaining the pokémon to a T.
"A mudkip. I've never seen one before. It's a great choice!" He wanted to pet the pokémon on the top of his or her head but now wasn't the time and he knew that.
It was time to make a move and Davey knew most of Angel's moves like the back of his hand. The pokémon knew only five moves at the time. They were Sing, Charm, Defense curl, Pound and Sweet kiss. Sing would be no use though, most igglybuff hardly had the voice to sing due to their vocal cords still developing. So that move was completely out altogether for this battle, she would not be able to use that. Next, charm. Not the most powerful move but it was good against most pokémon- especially those much larger than the pink ball of fluff. There was a fifty-fifty chance. Defense curl would come in handy during an attack and pound would be pretty good too. Lastly, sweet kiss. A move that confused the opponent. If Angel could get close enough to the mudkip, she might be able to use it.
He thought long and hard, his first move should be an attack. "Okay Angel, I want you to use pound!" The pokémon's glare turned toward the mudkip and with the help of her balloon-like, she was able to quickly bounce toward the mudkip. It was the fastest Davey has ever seen his pokémon move. She bounced left then right, moving from side to the other to avoid any oncoming attacks. The igglybuff couldn't sing but she could do a mean battle cry. She began screaming as she came at her opponent, raising her small arm up, ready to pound on the mudkip. It glowed a vibrant white and the closer she got to the pokémon, the more vibrant the arm became. Angel was determined to hit this pokémon with all her strength.

As I cannot find the answer here
A Pokedex? That was a new one, and something that Ryusuke had not at all been anticipating. He'd heard stories of the things being considered for mass production, a tool for the masses to use, but growing up.... well, most people knew the stories. Prodigy trainers, a few out of every region, and by and large only they'd had access to the things for the longest time. In truth Ryusuke hadn't even realized what it was at first, but when it began to speak it became all too obvious what the device was. So, not an entirely wasted trip to the park - Ryusuke hadn't been aware that trainers in this region had access to the mass production models, and a little bit of information went a long way in a fight. It was a good thing to be aware of, and by extension a known factor he could prepare for in the future.
At the very least, though, it was refreshing to see a new trainer thinking. Not just charging in blindly, but thinking, going over what they knew and what they had available to them. That was a mistake that too many rookies made, Ryusuke himself included back when he'd first started out, and it had only been by dumb luck that he'd made it as far as he had unscathed. His Igglybuff, on the other hand... Ryusuke had known another trainer who'd had one, back on that note of when he'd first set out. Known them long enough that he knew how to read the body language for the species, and to recognize almost immediately that this one was not lacking in confidence - whether or not said confidence had any basis to it was another matter, though, but it was an interesting contrast to the trainer.
With all of that out in the open, though, that was about where the differences between this kid and the other rookies stopped, and just like most other trainers Dave didn't waste any time shouting out his order. Shouting it out, not only for his own Pokemon to hear, but for the Pokemon it was fighting as well as the other trainer. Even before the Igglybuff burst into motion, Dave had indirectly informed both Ryusuke and Mudkip of what to be prepared for, and as the Fairy type began to zigzag across the field neither trainer nor Pokemon bothered to really react. While relatively new, Mudkip had been on Ryusuke's team for a good two months now. Long enough to pick up the rest of the team's fighting style, and to understand that she didn't need to focus on her trainer - instead, all of her attention was devoted entirely to her opponent. Pound was a physical strike, nothing more, nothing less, and in the end it didn't really matter what the Igglybuff did - it still would need to get close enough to actually hit her, and that in and of itself allowed for some degree of predictability.
Unfortunately, that didn't change the fact that Mudkip was just as much a newbie as the Igglybuff was, if not even younger, and while possessing a few unorthodox moves from its parents the only one that would've helped here was a double edged sword due to her small size.
Rather than making any attempt to dodge the incoming Igglybuff, Mudkip instead surged forward to meet her opponent head on the instant a clear target presented itself. Deliberately taking the Pound attack to the face, the Water type wouldn't be knocked back by it, but rather continue to move forward with Tackle - and at point blank range with an opponent currently hitting her, there weren't too many ways she could miss. Ryusuke, for his part, simply remained where he was on the edge of the battlefield as he watched the fight kick off. Considering that there really wasn't anything at stake here the older trainer was fairly relaxed, content to simply watch and see how things played out - with any luck Mudkip would learn a few lessons herself from the fight.
Summary: Mudkip hit by Pound (15%), used Tackle (29.9% - 35.5%) while Igglybuff was attacking and unable to easily dodge.
He overwhelmed with happiness to see his pokémon in action. She was finally having her first battle! The pokémon was a novice battler but you could hardly tell by the way she moved. Angel moved with much grace and fast too. He could see that and was very proud to see her use her first move. He wanted to scream, shout and do a little dance. Davey was so excited and didn't know any other way to express it. He did his best to keep cool as Angel inched closer and closer, he even began clenching his hands a bit to keep his hands still. Ryusuke seemed pretty chilled out about all this and if he was chill, so would he. Though, Davey's face did not seemed as relaxed as his opponent, he tried.
He tried to keep calm but once Angel made her first hit, he lost it. "Yes, yes, yes, yes! Oh my Arceus, I can't believe! You made your first move Angel and it went through! I'm so happy! I know you're happy too!" Davey completely changed, doing everything he wasn't going to do. The mudkip seemed somewhat affected by the move and Angel enjoyed hitting her. The igglybuff had almost an evil grin when she attacked that her trainer did not see but everyone else most likely did. She was more satisfied than happy. Angel enjoyed attacking other pokémon and what better way to do that than a battle? When her trainer called her name, she completely turned her back toward her opponent and cheered right along with him.
If Davey knew anything about pokémon battles, he would know why this is a no no. But he didn't and continued cheering with Angel. This made Angel an easy target. She was no moving anything but her very small arms, waving them around as she cooed her name over and over again. Little did she know the mudkip would soon attack. She couldn't do anything either.
Angel finally stopped cheering to face her opponent only to be met with the move tackle. There was no dodging this move and due to it being the first blow she has ever taken, she was pushed back unexpectedly. Angel was unconscious for a moment- the move was not all that affective to those experience in battle but to the little igglybuff, it did a lot of damage. Davey could not do much except call her name to male sure she was okay and after calling it several times, Angel finally responded with an angry sound. The pokémon's eyes set on what would now be more of an enemy. She hated this pokémon now and would do her best to destroy it.
Its okay, Angel. Use Sweet kiss." Davey called out trying to make his pokémon feel better. He could tell she was a little upset. While most pokémon that used this move look sweet and innocent, Angel looked the complete opposite. Her face was neither sweet or innocent as she did a small twirl in the air, puckered her lips and blew a flirtatious kiss. A large pink heart came about, large and almost balloon-like. The heart appeared to be very light as it moved toward the mudkip. Angel was really hoping it would hit that pokémon and confused the crap out of it.
