Friends: Despite his far more extroverted nature since middle school, these people are still far and few for Ryusuke - while he tends to earn at least small amounts of goodwill here and there as a result of his Mr. Fixit talents as well as his seemingly inexhaustible knowledge base, most of those people were merely considered acquaintances by Ryusuke himself. Generally speaking, Ryusuke tends to get along far better with people older than himself although anyone who puts forth an effort or who spends enough time around Ryusuke will likely end up in this category short of completely violating his own moral code.
Writer's note: To be honest, this is the group I want a few people in the most for character development reasons. Anything goes, preferably just a few close friends that he runs into time and time again who he can come to rely on and vice versa.
Enemies: For his few good points there are a number of things about Ryusuke that can rub people the wrong way - his tendency to occasionally put his foot in his mouth during conversations, his often short, blunt and to the point nature, and half a dozen other little quirks and oddities. Aside from that, there are a handful of things Ryusuke himself tends not to tolerate either - bigots, first and foremost, with the second big one being people who treat others badly for no apparent reason. Also of note are his prosthetics which can be rather unsettling to a lot of people, and while he does go to certain lengths to avoid them being overtly attention drawing in public he draws the line at wearing long sleeved clothing to hide them. Finally, while Ryusuke typically isn't one to start fights, mess with his friends or family and he will do everything humanly possible to screw with you in turn, ranging from petty mischief to a full on vendetta hellbent on bringing you down.
Romance: As far as this goes Ryusuke is a mixture of old and new views - while by no means old fashioned in the sense that he looks down on other views of the subject, Ryusuke isn't going to be one for short term relationships and wants to get it right the first time if only because he feels that life is too short to spend on dead ends. All of that being said, Ryusuke is nothing if not loyal and understanding and while he would not be clingy in any sense of the word he would always be there should the other person merely ask.
Writer's Note: First and foremost, anyone interested in this would need to become a friend of Ryusuke's first before pushing for the next stage. While it's entirely possible that he would be the first to approach the other person if he felt strongly enough about them and was certain that it would be worth the effort in his mind, that would take time and the other person would be far better served by approaching him themselves - that being said it could work either way, though, so I'm up for any ideas along that front.
Other: Fairly well aware that the above three categories don't even come close to covering everything, so that's what this section is for. Considering that his parents were both outstanding trainers in their times (and his mother still presumably is), it's quite possible that a few of the older trainers he runs into who hail from Hoenn might know them - in addition to that he also has his dad's PokeNav and hasn't taken the time to go through the contact list, so people might come in contact with him that way as well.

Zuzu and Ryuksuke ------
So I was thinking maybe they could meet after Zuzu gets her 'first' pokemon and she hears him talking about beating the Pokemon League or something, and she thinks it would be funny if she became friends with him and suprise him later on. So maybe they could be friends or something? |

My character Aveta, is a strong and obsessive young woman with a now very naughty Starly. She normally is not one to make enemies considering she tends to be very peaceful and protective of others. I was thinking though that they could meet and her new Pokemon could stir some trouble between the two of them as well as it would give me a thread to start taming the beast. Maybe in the process they could discover they are both con-questing to become the best which spikes an obsessive rivalry in Aveta. Of course I would want them to meet up periodically to compare on how far they are and Aveta would always be pleasant but in her mind she would be secretly waiting to destroy Ryusuke.
Or, I can be open to just having them as friends where Aveta sort of learns and trains under Ryusuke because of the fact that she is absolutely new and he is a more experienced trainer.

Zuzu and Ryuksuke ------
I'd be definitely be open to this - as a new trainer in the region he'd definitely be looking to form a network of sorts since that's always been something he's lacked in his previous travels, settling for just one or two people he'd travel with. The revelation of her E4 status would definitely make for an interesting fight later on.
Aveta and Ryuksuke ------
Yeah, this could definitely go one of two ways, so frankly it's up to you on which route you'd prefer. Considering that Ryusuke's control of Grovyle is nonexistent to the point that the Pokemon basically abandoned him for a year to go soul searching, though, I don't think Ryusuke would be overly upset with the trainer for anything her Pokemon did, especially starting out.
Concerning the rivalry route, though, that's a definite possibility, especially if any of Ryusuke's family history came to light - his mother won the Indigo League tournament to become Champion on the last forum I ported him from, and despite the fact that Ryusuke's attitude towards the woman has cooled from "despise" to "utterly indifferent", he's still his mother's son. Ryusuke's picked up the same sort of obsession she had at his age for self improvement after getting his ass handed to him in a sink-or-swim event, so I could definitely see a heated rivalry going here. Bonus points in that he never really cared enough before, so it'd be the first rivalry he's had that goes both ways until now.
Alternatively, it wouldn't be the first time that Ryusuke's helped a new trainer learn the ropes, so as I said before, it really depends on which plot appeals to you more. Truthfully, we could even combine the two once Aveta's learned enough that she's comfortable as a trainer, and transition from tutoring to rivalry as time goes on if you'd want that instead.

Could be anywhere around the first two cities. Ryusuke started off in Yayli, but his first catch/battle thread is on the Long Beach and he was going to continue from there to Crystal City. Plan from that point was just to keep going until he hit the first city with an active Gym, and keep battling along the way to keep his Pokemon in shape.

What if we meet in Crystal City right before the first big gym fight and Ryu could give Aveta some good tips and pointers about how to do a gym battle.

That could work, although at the moment I think the only open Gym is the Ghost one at the Lost Shrine. Unless Noe decides to mod the "closed" Gyms as NPC battles.

Hey Ryusuke! I would love for my newest character to be friends with Ryusuke. He seems like he knows a lot about Pokémon and battling, something Davey knows very little about. Davey can be a little arrogant but he is a really kind person. I feel like Ryusuke can sort of be like a mentor for him.

Wouldn't be the first time Ryusuke's mentored a newer trainer, so I'd be up for it. Just need to be careful about how they meet is all - one of the biggest reasons Ryusuke has issues with Coordinators is because of their perceived arrogance, and that issue carried over to just about anyone who shows the trait. If they get off to the wrong foot that's going to cause problems right from the start.
