11.22.15 -- We are approaching the holiday season very rapidly. I understand that things get busy around this time of year, just try and make sure that you don't forget about us! And, because winter is coming, things in Rakuen are about to change! Our winter event will be starting on December first so keep your eyes peeled for it and be sure to participate. You won't want to miss out. Enjoy the last little bits of your fall!
Pokemon is a copyrighted concept that belongs to Nintendo. The site plot as well as site related threads belong to the staff team. All of the images as well as posts belongs to the respective owners and or creators. The present theme was created by Noemi and Namazu with the help of Adoxography and their beatiful resources. A special thanks to Cloud for unique ideas within the site. Thank you for respecting this and not stealing from us.
The Rakuen Guidebook is a new members guide and companion for surviving on the site. It contains the how-to for each class, a battle guide with tips and tricks, an evolution guide and a region map. Below is a directory with links to that post so that you do not have to scroll through the entire thread to find a tiny piece of information.
The gyms can be completed in any order that a trainer so pleases since there are no set levels nor is there any set way to travel the region.
Most gym battles will last a total of eight turns or less. Certain gyms can have specific rules that will cause the battle to last more than eight turns or less than eight turns.
Each gym has a unique set up as well as unique rules set by the gym leader that each member must follow when challenging the Gym.
A character can only challenge the same gym once a week. If they lose against the gym leader they must wait seven days after the thread is concluded before issuing another challenge.
Once a character has collected all eight badges, they are allowed to challenge the Elite Four at Destiny Keep.
The Elite Four do not have to be challenged in any particular order just like gym battles.
Each Elite Four member has a special set of rules and battle style just like the gyms that challengers must abide by when battling.
During an Elite Four challenge a staff member will be assigned to the battle in order to make sure that both teams are playing fair.
If a character loses against an elite four member they cannot challenge any of the other halls. They must wait fourteen days after the thread has been concluded before they may issue another challenge.
A character does not have to defeat the gym leaders or Elite Four in battle in order to earn a badge or passage to the next hall. A staff member can step in at any time and deem the character as worthy to continue forward.
{ TOURNAMENTS }
Tournaments are a site wide event in a liquid located area that anyone may participate in.
Each tournament has unique rules that each player must abide by while participating.
The reward for a staff initiated tournament can be cash, Pokemon or unique items not found in either shop. These will happen once a year.
Tournaments can be created by members as well. If a member feels the desire to begin a tournament, simply PM Noemi, the head admin, with the rules you wish to put in place, any rewards you are willing to offer (whether that is Pokemon from your own PC or perhaps even cash or PD that your account has, maybe even just free posting templates) and any other information that may be needed.
The staff will work with any member to get a tournament sign-up going as well as the entire event announced and structured.
Breeders each receive their own place of operations that they may customize. All of these plots are located within THIS board.
Each beginning breeder may breed four different Pokemon a week. The Pokemon must have related egg groups as well as be opposite genders.
Every time two Pokemon are bred, there is a chance to earn 0-2 eggs. The amount of eggs given are generated randomly by a staff member. These eggs can be either the father or mother Pokemon. It is up to the player to decide the species.
All breeders receive a license when opening their farm that allows them to hold other player's Pokemon in order to use for breeding purposes. A breeder cannot modify a Pokemon that is not their own under any circumstances.
A breeder will receive two of the same Pokemon from the Lab in order to start their breeding process.
Eggs take one week to hatch unless it is a Pokemon that is on the Rare List. Pokemon that are deemed rare take a total of ten days to hatch.
{ BREEDING CONDITIONS }
A Pokemon cannot breed if it was hatched within the same month.
A Pokemon cannot breed if it has laid an egg with seven days.
A Pokemon that has been deemed rare may only breed every fourteen days, regardless of the result of the breeding.
Throughout the region there are four separate Contest Halls that are each guarded by a Hall Leader. The Hall Leaders can be challenged for a ribbon.
Each Hall will have two total rounds in order to gain as many points as possible. The first round is the Talent Round while the second round is the Battle Round.
In the Talent Round your Pokemon will use four of it's moves to show off the beauty that it holds. To do this, you will have to be creative with the way you execute the moves. You may combine the moves together to make them more stylish or you may use them individually.
You can earn a total of 20 points for the Talent Round based off of how you used the moves as well as grammar, spelling, and quality of post. Longer is not always better. A mod will post your score and you will move on to the next round.
In the battle round, you will be scored on how skillfully you and your Pokemon battle together. You will use the moves you've selected and battle an opponent with a preset time limit. When the time is up or one of the Pokemon battling have been knocked out, the judges will score your Pokemon's moves and how efficiently they were used.
You can earn a total of 25 points for the Battle Round. The score is based off of grammar, spelling and the quality of the battle. Five points are awarded if you manage to KO the Hall Leader's Pokemon.
In order to win the Ribbon from the Contest Hall, you must score a minimum of 20 points. If you score 20 points within the first round you may opt out of the battle stage.
{ THE TRAVELING STAGE }
The traveling stage is a stage that anyone can compete on and will appear randomly across the region.
After it appears, any player has two weeks to sign up for a performance on the stage.
After the performance starts, every player who signed up has four weeks to post their entry based on the theme of the stage.
The amount of winners vary on how many people signed up for the stage. The winners are decided by quality of post, proper grammar, proper spelling, and creativity.
All winners will be posted one week after the performance deadline. Each winner also receives a Traveling Ribbon.
It should be noted that, excluding League Battles (which are gym challenges, Elite Four challenges, and tournaments), there are two kinds of battles that a member can be a part of. This section will cover both of those battles and how to play them out.
Modded Battles
A modded battle is a battle that takes place between a staff member generating an NPC or a Wild Pokemon and a member's character. In the title of these threads, you should often put a [MOD] or some indication that you want a staff member to step in and generate something for you.
A battle between a Wild Pokemon and a trainer has special rules. These threads will last no more than four turns.
During each turn, there is no limit on how many attacks are used regardless if they are status effecting or a power attack.
These threads are for development between a trainer and his/her Pokemon as well as a chance for your character to learn combination moves and gain some strategy before challenging a gym or contest hall.
A battle between an NPC and a trainer has generic rules, but a member can request a different set of rules if they wish to use a different battling technique. The staff member who is modding the thread can deny the different rules when they see fit.
The generic rules are that the battle will be 2v2 and last a total of eight turns. Three attacks may be used per turn with each Pokemon having access to two dodges for the entire battle. Pokemon may be swapped out at any moment.
If a trainer defeats the NPC trainer they will be rewarded an additional 500 PD as well as what they earned from posting.
Staff asks that members specify if they wish to encounter an NPC otherwise they will receive a randomly generated wild Pokemon.
Member Battles
Member battles are a battle that will take place between two members but it not considered a league official battle. This means that it is not in a tournament or a challenge.
The two members who are about to enter battle may set their own rules for the battle or they can follow the generic NPC battle rules.
If members wish to set a reward at the end (ie. 200PD) the reward must be taken from the loser's inventory.
If members are unable to determine a winner, they are free to PM a staff member and ask for mod assistance. The mod will read over the thread and announce who has won.
{ TIPS & TRICKS }
There are no stats in Rakuen. Everything is based loosely around the base stat of the Pokemon and type differences do matter. Please, keep that in mind as you read on.
When attacking, your Pokemon already knows most of its natural attacks. This excludes Move Tutor, TM, HM and Egg Moves. Granted, your Pokemon will not have mastered all of these attacks already. Some of the higher level attacks may be difficult for your Pokemon to complete. An example being if you just received your Squirtle from the lab, it will not be able to master Hydro Pump in one try or perhaps even water pulse may be a difficult move for it to complete. As you train and grow with your Pokemon it will become stronger and get better at those moves.
Going back to the Squirtle and his first battle just outside of the lab. If he is going against a Treecko, whose base stat for speed is 70 while the turtle has a base speed of 43, you cannot expect the Squirtle to out run the wood gecko. And that is how you use base stats as a reference for battle, even though these stats can be altered by certain attacks in a battle like Growl, Agility and so on.
Continuing in their battle, if the Treecko uses a grass type attack that hits for the third time, you can imagine that the Squirtle will be at the end of his line. He is weak to grass attacks and not invincible. There will be no "And Squirty Mc. Squirts took the hit. He landed on the sand, looking up at his trainer who was concerned for the safety of his Pokemon. The Pokemon knew he had to win it so he stood up, a new wave of strength in his veins..." Yadayada. Everything has a limit. Losing does not mean you are weak, it means you are growing and quite a confident player in being able to admit defeat humbly.
Lastly, most Pokemon are given to the you with a personality already in play. The exceptions are Pokemon hatched from eggs and Pokemon that a member starts with. Keep that personality in mind when battling, if you have a stubborn Chimchar he is likely to ignore some of the attacks you call out. But, through training and bonding in battle as well as in general, the personality can change.
If you have any questions about the battling procedure or what is acceptable and what is not, please PM a staff member or ask an experienced member. It is a very loose battle style on the site and can be hard for new members who came from a very structured site previously to understand. We are always willing to help you out.
In Rakuen, levels do not exist, which brings up the question of 'How Do Pokemon Evolve'. The answer is simple, they evolve through Evolution Stones. There are four different stones that a player can buy in order to evolve their Pokemon.
Each stone only works one time before it breaks into two pieces and is then simply considered shards. A player can choose to remove their shards from their inventory or keep them for a rainy day. Who knows, they may have an important role later on. Wink wink.
The four stones work on different Pokemon. Each stone is a different tier that is listed below with what Pokemon it can effect.
Pokemon who evolve via happiness, evolutionary stones, or trade are simply placed into a tier and no longer require that certain stone or level of happiness.
With Pokemon that have more than one option of evolution path, ie, ralts, eevee, etc. can become any of the different evolutions at their set tier.
In the case of Nincada, as long as a trainer has an extra Pokeball when evolving it, they are able to receive a Shedinja if the player wishes.
A player can choose to evolve their Pokemon by simply updating their PC with their new Pokemon or they can play out the scene of evolving the Pokemon. It can be in battle as long as the battle was started after the evolution stone was bought.
{ EVOLUTION TIERS }
Tier 1
Tier one is any Pokemon that evolves before level 10. Kricketot is included within this tier.
Tier 2
Tier two is called the baby tier. This stone will evolve any Pokemon that is classified as a baby Pokemon. If you are not sure of which Pokemon is considered a baby, we are using this list.
Tier 3
Tier three is the generic evolution tier. It is the first evolution in a chain of three. An example of this being Chimchar, Nidoran, Poliwag, etc. It is also the last evolution for both Tier 1 and Tier 2. It includes any Pokemon that evolves only once level 30 or below. That also includes Pokemon that have one evolution induced by trade, item, attack or the likes.
Tier 4
The final tier is the last evolution from those that started in tier 3 as well as any Pokemon that evolves once after level 30.
If you have any questions about which tier a certain Pokemon belongs under, please feel free to PM a staff member who will help you right away.
