The town of Pantano isn't much to look at. Sand, stone and desolation as far as the eye can see. The gym is no exception, a hole in the ground that can't be seen unless you are standing right on the edge and looking down. An unmarked staircase leads down a standby stone hallway to a sturdy wooden door. Behind this door is a staging room, countless challengers have prepared themselves for battle here and many have carved their names into the stone walls. Hundreds of names grace the wall, many faded by time. It is surprisingly cool in here and wooden shelves are stocked with food, water and medical supplies. In one corner of the room a simple wooden bunk bed stands, waiting travelers. It to is scarred with the names of trainers and their pokemon who spent the night there. Across the room's entrance is the door leading to the arena itself. It is locked and writing is carved into the door with instructions to challengers. Behind this door is the arena, a sandy hole in the ground with stone walls. Several doorways are carved into it but whatever rooms they once lead to have been blocked by rubble. The arena itself is sparse, stone rubble around the edge of the pit offers a slightly elevated position but otherwise the terrain is flat. This arena rewards strength and bold movement as there is nothing to help pokemon get an advantage over each other. The only decoration is on Caira's side of the arena. Where two colorful umbrellas are stuck into the sand with a hammock strung between them, this is where she waits for challengers to finish their preparations.
GYM LEADER: Caira Faye
WELCOME CHALLENGERS
You have come so far to face me, but i'm not here
My bad
My bad
You will find a phone next to the door, it connects directly to me. If I don't answer i'm probably doing something very dangerous and exciting, real edge of your seat stuff. Or maybe i'm sleeping, either way just leave a message and i'll get back to you as soon as I feel like it possible. While you wait please make yourself at home and familiarize yourself with these rules.
- Battles are 1v1, This means only one pokemon per trainer on the field at a time
- Substitutions are allowed only when your pokemon can no longer continue in battle
- You may use a minimum of two pokemon and a maximum of six. I will match this number, pokemon must be declared before we begin
- Don't trash this room
- I'll get there when i get there, don't call me more than once
- The intense elderly man who may show up and challenge you to an "honor duel" - IS NOT WITH MY GYM, please don't encourage him
- Battles will continue regardless of weather, no 'sandstorm checks'
- If you fail you many not challenge me again until you have acquired another badge first
- Pantano is boring, people like to watch the gym battles from the top of the pit. Be mindful of their safety or i will end the battle
- Battling Pokemon must remain inside the pit at all times, flying types may go above but not beyond the boundaries
- Wailords DON'T FIT IN THE PIT. I'm serious. (Also there is no water in the arena, be aware of this if you plan on using aquatic pokemon)
- Have fun, or don't. I don't care. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life
