"Alright Toxicroak, remember that time when I was a weak, strapping young lad? Well...it's time to be weak and strapping again. We are gettin some new partners pal, we need to balance out the team more, and for the first time I am willing to catch me some non-poison types, as long as their strong and vicious, that's all we need buddy." Nattousai's Toxicroak sternly stares at his Trainer as if already at the dawn of a battle. Toxicroak was a very intense, very proud Pokemon that flaunted its power by being focused and hard hitting. He wasn't much for chatter, but Nattousai and him had a connection beyond words or measure, and the two have battled for many years together in order to be perfectly in sync with one another. But it was time now for a new Pokemon, and another couple years training it to be up to par with Nattousai's Gym team.
"We want strong Pokemon, capable Pokemon for when we're journeying and trying to get stronger. Gym leaders never rest man, we are always improving in some way, and what better way than going on a journey all over, to be great, to be excellent at what we do, and with some brand spankin new Pokemon, we are gonna rock!" Toxicroak remained stern with no emotion, he just wanted to battle already. Nattousai liked his Pokemon's spirit, always has, and went right to work searching for a worthy Pokemon to fill his team. "Alright Toxicroak, this list I have here I musta went over at least a dozen times..." Nattousai pulls out a crumpled piece of paper, it was the list he spoke of, but not in very good condition. He must have forgotten he had it at some point. "So these Pokemon I listed based off of who would be a great chemistry with our current Gym team. Charmander is number one, because fire and poison is an explosive and destructive combination, and a Charmander can do some real damage with my Weezing and Arbok tactics. Burn them, then Poison them, or should it be the other way around? Anyway...." Toxicroak folds his arms and shakes his head, the list may take a while....
"Next for priority would be a Darumaka, these Pokemon have high energy, and prove dependable in tough battles. It and Crobat would be great together." Toxicroak shrugs, not fully caring. "I also have here an Eevee...oh man to have that rare Pokemon would be tough, cause all its evolutions rule! It'd be so hard to choose between them. Working well with a Poison type would be Flareon or Umbreon for sure, Nidoking could use an Eevee to train with. Adaptability training right?" Toxicroak shrugs again. "Alright last on my list, for now, I put down Onix...how's THAT for power?" Toxicroak seemed a bit more interested at that last mention and nodded energetically. "I thought so. Most if not all these Pokemon should be found around here I think...guess we will find out. Come on, let's look around."
Nattousai and his faithful companion Toxicroak began taking their first steps towards the more rocky part of the route, but also not straying too far from the grassy portion. With different terrains on one plateau, Nattousai figured there must be a heaping helping of different and powerful Pokemon here. He was fierce with determination to find just the right one. "Let's just see how lucky we get buddy." Toxicroak nods and begins darting its eyes back and forth trying to scout for some truly champion Pokemon, while also being on its guard and incredibly cautious. Nattousai has trained it well for concentration and also adapting to all different kinds of terrain. "Goal here is not to scare em off, or let them scare us...friendly first...then fierce...got it?" Toxicroak has no argument there, and keeps close to Nattousai, ready for anything. "Heck, I'll even take a Stunky! It's half Dark type and those things might lurk around here too....let's hope we find something." They search together rigorously and wait to see what they find.

As the sun beat down upon them a wealth of pokemon were out and about though most gave trainers a wide berth, the ones that didn't were either arrogant, bold, clueless, lazy or just plain unlucky. Which one of these categories they fell in was a matter of opinion however. As the trainer and his pokemon searched a patch of grass just below a rocky outcropping a wild Hoppip lept out, spinning its leaves about it began to fly off just over their heads. It didn't look particularly imposing nor did it show any real interest in the trainer and his pokemon aside from being mildly startled. Perhaps it didn't fit the trainers criteria but every pokemon had value in some way or another to the right person. If they weren't interested it was clear that this Hoppip would be content to float off on its merry way leaving them in peace to continue the search.

As the duo proceeded forth into the deeper end of the route and onto the rocky landscape, they hear a rush of wind breeze by them from the grass they just passed. They turn around and see a little purple turnip of a sort begin flying its way out from the brush and over their heads. Nattousai looked upwards, startled at first by the sudden appearance of this creature catching Nattousai by surprise. It seemed, however, that Toxicroak knew it was there all along, but didn't bother to really pursue it. Toxicroak had no liking to this Pokemon nor a desire to battle with it, it just folded its arms and let out a grunt. It hoped its Trainer wouldn't waste time with this Pokemon. Nattousai was curious though, at its whimsical display of acrobatics and carefree nature. Toxicroak may be right to pass it up, but Nattousai found this Pokemon strangely pleasing in a way. "I dunno pal, I can see how lackluster you are in regards to that thing up there in the air, but a Hoppip isn't exactly the worst catch is it?" Toxicroak doesn't answer, and turns his head away from Nattousai disappointed
"Oh come on man! It's not that bad. It's cute and adorable and who knows, could prove pretty deadly when we train it. It'd be useful to have another flyer besides Crobat right?" Toxicroak doesn't give Nattousai the satisfaction of an answer. Ultimately, it was Nattousai's decision whether or not to spend the time and energy to capture the Hoppip. The Gym Leader wasn't convinced it would be worth the time, but he couldn't help but let the idea of 'what if' bug him. After all, Hoppip's evolved forms could indeed learn Poison moves, and that could be a plus with his other Poison type Pokemon. Nattousai couldn't dwell on it forever, for the Pokemon was going to fly away at any moment now. It was bad enough Nattousai didn't have a flying type Pokemon to chase it down, let alone have Toxicroak spend valuable time chasing it around. Nattousai after a baited breath watching in awe at the graceful Hoppip twirling away in the air, had made his choice. "Such grace in that Pokemon, a shame to let it go....but to capture it would deprive it of its freedom and its beauty. I'll let this one slide. You good with that buddy?" Nattousai looks at his Toxicroak and his Pokemon gives him some attention again, agreeing with Nattousai that his recent decision was best.
"Goodbye my turnip shaped friend. May you fly ever more into a long life." Nattousai gave a sharp salute to Hoppip as it continued flying through the sky. His moment of bliss and brief connection with the wild Grass and Flying type came and went, and he was already back into a fixed hunting mode for a new encounter. "Okay Toxicroak, shall we?" Nattousai gestures to Toxicroak to take the lead, as the two casually brisk by the grassy area and head further for the rockier part of the location.

A few minutes after the Hoppip soared away into the sunset the duo was continuing their search in the more rugged and rocky terrain above the fields. Bits of green were becoming gradually more sparse until only a singular small tuft of grass was left sticking out of a rocky fissure. The odd thing is that it seemed to have moved once the trainer looked away and back again. When the duo strayed close to the rock the tuft of grass darted away until the rest of the pokemon became visible as it rounded a rock. A rather large oddish darted out from behind the rock, giving a startled jump as it saw the trainer. The pokemon took off abruptly ,running across the path in front of the gym leader and his companion the oddish bounded down the side of a rocky hill towards the taller grass where it would be able to make its escape.
The Hoppip may have been left to its freedom, but there was bound to be a Pokemon around the place that needed a new home, with a different kind of freedom, one of friendship and bonding. Nattousai never treated his Pokemon, or any Pokemon for that matter, like slaves. He treated every Pokemon equally and with an open mind. Each of those creatures were unique in their own right, and all had their numerous strengths and weaknesses, all standing out from one another setting themselves apart in all sorts of ways so there was always a perfect Pokemon for every kind of Trainer out there in the world. Nattousai continued to be fascinated with the Pokemon race, learning something new every day, even as a Gym Leader, he was still a student to the magic of those mysterious critters. But who REALLY knew everything about Pokemon or where they came from? People may never know the entire truth, but they can always strive for knowledge.
"I forgot how amazing this place is, even so close to the Shallow Islands and the bustling city of Morii, they just seem so happy to be close to people....for the most part anyway. Pokemon really are somethin else huh buddy? Just like you, you're somethin else." Toxicroak tries to hide a flattered smile, but it doesn't do a very good job and Nattousai manages to spot it at just the right moment. "HA! Not so tough and serious after all are you pal?" Toxicroak goes right back to being stern upon hearing the comment and picks up the pace a little as he marches through the rockier part of the area moving farther ahead of Nattousai than he would have liked. "Jeeze, I guess you don't take compliments well, wait up!" Nattousai catches up with Toxicroak and the two are matching again in speed. They quickly tread forwards as Nattousai continues feeling out the place. There still seemed to be patches of grass and fauna dotting the rocks though the terrain seemed to shift, it continued to hold imprints of the path behind. Even some flora could be seen sprouting from the ground beneath their feet. Life was in bloom here on Route 7.
"Now if we could only...hey, wait a minute!" Nattousai spoke too soon, not more than a few more feet later from their previous encounter, another wild Pokemon shows its face to them. An Oddish, which could have easily been perceived as an average plant, peaked its head out from behind a rock and ran in front of the Trainer and his Pokemon scared out of its wits. It must have not been used to seeing Trainers, either that or it really just was afraid of people. Before Nattousai could even properly react to its presence, it was already nearly out of the Trainer's sight just as quick as it appeared. "That little guy really wanted to get away from us didn't he? And he's a fast one! And my, he's a biggun too!" The Oddish was trying to make an escape from Nattousai and his Toxicroak. Toxicroak went into a bent, running stance ready to chase the breathing plant down with a sprint at the snap of a finger. Nattousai stopped him, however. "Wait, buddy. If that Pokemon is that afraid of us now, that means he would take way too much work to train and feel comfortable with us. And I don't have that kinda time, not as a full time Gym Leader I don't. He clearly wants nothing to do with us, so just like the Hoppip, let it be happy instead, and enjoy it's open environment." Toxicroak grumbled a little annoyed with Nattousai now allowing the plump and healthy looking Oddish to escape. Toxicroak believed it was a better catch than the Hoppip, but he obeyed and relaxed his posture remaining by Nattousai's side awaiting the next instruction.
"Patience, friend. We will find what we're looking for, I know it. And once we do find just the right companion, trust me, we will BOTH know, I promise okay?" Nattousai kneels down to his beloved Toxicroak and pats him on the shoulder. The Pokemon frowns wanting some action, but understands and gives a slow nod. Nattousai grins appreciative of his Pokemon's cooperation. "GREAT! Now let's get to higher ground and see if some different Pokemon might be at an elevated level." Nattousai wasn't exactly wearing hiking gear, so he struggled a little with the trek. Toxicroak begins taking the lead again with the search, alert and ready to protect his friend Nattousai checking on him every now and then as the Trainer struggled to make tracks in his current outfit behind the frog Pokemon. So far the two have been lucky not finding any aggressive Pokemon jumping out and simply attacking without merit, but there wasn't anything entirely wrong with an aggressive Pokemon either, however Toxicroak had been trained to always be on his toes in case a dangerous instance like that were to occur. "There's gotta be some stronger ones up ahead, I know it!" Toxicroak had always admired Nattousai's determination and positive spirit, it often fed off of that, and it was a major element as to why their bond was so strong. But their bond may be put to the test eventually the deeper they go into the route.

The Oddish vanished into the tall grass behind them as quickly as it had appeared. As it went bounding through the grass it scared a few Pidgey into the air but they were too far away to be concerned with even if the trainer had been interested in catching them. Their squawking however drew the attention of more than just the trainer and his Toxicroak. A slight groaning sound was heard from the rocky high ground just ahead, the sound of rock scraping against rock. The stone in question turned out to be a Geodude, the wild pokemon pulled itself out of the ground where it had been sleeping, leaving an indentation into the ground shaped exactly like the pokemon who had been sleeping there. It turned to face the other two, a bit groggy from its recent nap as it shook a layer of dirt off it's rocky exterior. The chips and gashes in it's stone body were evidence of an older Geodude, they tended to suffer such abrasions after years of doing battle with their own kind to see who was harder.
The pokemon propped itself up on its two hands, it faced the duo but didn't approach. It seemed to be assessing them, a true Geodude could never resist a test of strength to prove how tough it was, but then again the Toxicroak and it's companion trainer didn't exactly look very hard. In fact they looked rather soft and squishy. Where would the victory be in a boulder crushing a noodle. It lowered its rocky eyebrows in a scowl and glared at them from a distance. It didn't want to be bothered by the two but if confronted it would happily prove its might once more.

Still resuming their search for the perfect companion, Nattousai and his froggy friend were now going into more rocky territory that seemed more dangerous and steep than the previous plain. The two have been coming up short with strong, much sought after Pokemon, they've mainly been coming across Pokemon that were too care free, naive, or seemed undesirable to be captured for one reason or another. The ones encountered so far just didn't fit the criteria for Nattousai's team, and were better off in the wild in his mind. Nattousai clung to hope that they will still find a great Pokemon worthy of a Gym Leader's trust and remained relentless with their search. Toxicroak was showing no signs of exhaustion or stopping any time soon, while Nattousai was huffing and puffing up the scraggly hillside. "So...many....rocks...." Nattousai tried to keep his breathing at a steady pattern as he went, he himself would benefit from some training as well it appears, some physical fitness as it were. He wasn't an obese man or anything, he was just too scrawny for his own good. Toxicroak kept beside him the whole time regardless of his pace though, due to the landscape changing into more risky elements.
"Really I'm fine. Keep going at your own pace buddy." Nattousai was ofcourse lying to Toxicroak, because he didn't want his Pokemon to think he's weak. Toxicroak was loyal through and through despite his Trainer's lack of endurance, and stayed glued to him for safety. If anything, it just gave Toxicroak more incentive to reassure Nattousai, that they were partners til the end. As they kept rolling along, and shortly after the Oddish escaped, one of the many boulders the duo was walking passed started to move and make a noise stopping the two in their tracks on a slope. It wasn't exactly the best timing to stop or the best location, the position and angle of their bodies was terrible. If something were to happen, the two would easily be knocked off their feet and sent tumbling down a very steep hill. They had to brace themselves for whatever it was that caught their attention. "Who's there?" Nattousai turned his head towards a cluster of boulders since that's where the noise was coming from, and started seeing one of them move! It rotated itself all the way around and revealed itself to the duo to be a Geodude! It's eyes glowered at the two with great intimidation, lifting its bulky mass upwards and giving its full attention to the passing by team.
This specific Pokemon automatically screamed toughness. It was of decent size, it had battle scars all across its hard shell, and its personality interpreted to be a wise, and strong type with the way it was eying the two. Its entire expression said it all really. "Wow! This Geodude....I mean these are common Pokemon everywhere, but this one...doesn't it seem a bit...different to you than the other Pokemon around here?" Toxicroak looked the Pokemon up and down, very much so receiving its toughness from afar. The toad smashed its fists together and menacingly grinned. This was the sign that Toxicroak gave Nattousai when he wanted to battle. He seemed to have deemed the Geodude worthy of that rite. Seeing that his Toxicroak had been waiting and out of action long enough for a nice fight, and lit up with anticipation upon seeing this Geodude, Nattousai gave his Pokemon his blessing and began to engage it in a battle with the Geodude. "Well alllllriiiight! Yowza! Hardcore man! Toxicroak, I love seein you fired up like this. Geodude, it's time for a battle, you've received a special invitation to my team, and you're comin with us!" Nattousai raises an explosive fist in the air pumped for what was about to happen next. Toxicroak didn't dig the cheesiness, but tried playing along with its own little pose, which was only a simple hop and a grimace.
"Okay Toxicroak, let's start this off by showing off your speed and power at the same time! Use Mud Bomb to lower its accuracy, and then follow through with a Feint Attack for good measure! We don't wanna completely knock it out, so that dark type move is just to exhaust it." Finally able to unleash its energy and show its colors in battle again as if it has been too long since its last tussle, the poisonous frog lashes out at the Geodude displaying incredible agility and acrobatic ability as it does so, leaping from boulder to boulder to zig-zag its way to the Pokemon until assaulting it at just the right angle to fulfill its trainers command, letting loose a large muddy ball from its maw straight at the Geodude's face once it reached a radius of three feet or so from the Geodude. Immediately afterwards, the Toxicroak would douse itself into a blazing black flame and dart at the foe in a speedy and vicious striking maneuver, taking advantage of the two pointy talons attached to its otherwise clawless hands to really grind against the Rock Pokemon's shell and wear it down.
Geodude's shell was already marked up from lots of battle experience, so it definitely knew its way around a fight, but Toxicroak was pretty battle hardened itself, and it would do its best to please its Trainer and prove to be some stiff competition for the Geodude. It was going to be quite the bout, but Toxicroak was healthy and eager to brawl, and felt Nattousai deserved a strong, and fresh partner on his team, and after seeing the potential and personality in this Geodude, it felt drawn, and had to try and weaken it for Nattousai to capture. Toxicroak may be a Poison type, which would prove nearly useless attack wise against a Geodude, but he was also a natural born Fighting Type, and he would take advantage of that side of his abilities to win this match. Nattousai stiffened with excitement, he felt like a new Trainer again and it felt great! "We need you Geodude, but don't you start thinking in that rough and tough head of yours that my Toxicroak isn't capable of giving you a real beating and we can't handle ourselves out here." Nattousai wasn't trying to tick off the Pokemon per say, but trying to match its personality with a toughness of his own. It was either going to work, or be completely disregarded as ignorance and the Geodude will have a much more threatening temper. The team was going to find out quickly just what this Rock type was made of!
The rocky pokemon's eyes tracked the duos every move, staring down the Toxicroak in particular. As it hit its fists together in a clear sign of aggression the Geodude tensed its jaw, preparing for a fight. As the wild pokemon's muscles tensed it's hard exterior groaned with the sound of rock rubbing against rock. It propped itself up on its arms to look taller, clenching its fist around a small boulder and cracking it with the sheer force of its grip. The pokemon had never been much for words, it communicated through actions and the movements of the other pokemon spelled unavoidable battle. Even if the trainer hadn't given the Toxicroak his blessing the Geodude would have charged them anyway. No one threatened this particular Geodude and got away without a thorough thrashing. The less nimble Geodude did it's best to match the Toxicroak's agility but was quickly out paced. The pokemon raised it's fist to block as the mud bomb smashed into him. He managed to block it from completely obscuring his vision but the hit would make it more difficult for him to engage the Toxicroak none the less. Spinning around he attempted a counter strike against his opponent but was caught off guard by the subsequent feint. Injured and enraged the Geodude slammed it's fist's into the ground sending a shockwave of dirt and shattered rock outwards in a vicious bulldoze attack before curling into a ball and rolling at the Toxicroak like a boulder down a hill.
The tactic used by Toxicroak seemed to work for the most part. The Mud Bomb attack landed smoothly and directly where it needed to, but the Geodude's arms were so massive, and its muscles so stiff, that it was able to withstand the brunt of the move with just a simple blocking maneuver. This Pokemon proved its supernatural endurance and uncanny ability for battling through a boundless determination and fierce concentration. The way it stood its ground and handled the intensity of Toxicroak's attacks was almost majestic in a sense, a sheer brute this Pokemon was, and that was attractive to Nattousai. A Rock Pokemon joining Nattousai's Poison based team would be a perfect wild card to throw opponents off in a big way. Not to mention the Geodude was already impressive with defensive technique, so he wouldn't need much training or care in that department, however its speed wasn't the best, which could prove fatal in certain situations.
Nattousai held out though in thinking its muscle and stamina would more than make up for it in the end. And to be able to withstand a super effective ground attack from Toxicroak at close range was a rare feat and a true talent. Afterwards, Nattousai's Toxicroak would properly land a sickening Feint Attack to further push the Rock Pokemon's defensive limits, and yet still it remains capable and strong willed in battle to continue fighting. There was nothing but admiration in Nattousai's eyes as he watched this invaluable Geodude just thrive during the bout. He felt his heart racing, he missed the thrill of facing a Wild Pokemon out in the open like this, he had forgotten the fun he had with it, and now once again, he was like a little kid with an unmatched excitement for adventure and a victim to the element of surprise. Once Toxicroak had finished its first go at Geodude, it returned to Nattousai's side still prone and ready for more. And if Nattousai didn't know any better, he could actually see a drop of sweat trickle from his Pokemon's forehead. Could it be that his Toxicroak had been given a formidable foe? That hasn't happened in some time.
Before long, the Geodude had recovered from being throttled by the Toxicroak, promptly being overcome by a prowess of speed and accurate hits by the frog, at first, but now, it was ready to strike back. Nattousai had been right earlier on in assuming the taunting would anger the Geodude, and that is what it exactly did. Karma had bitten Nattousai right in the rear as the Geodude smashed his fists into the ground showering Toxicroak with large bits of rubble and heavy rock, shaking the ground and overwhelming the Poison Fighting type with its scary might. Nattousai took a few steps back bewildered by such strength with a sudden worry on his face knowing ground type moves could seriously diminish Toxicroak and hinder its health. Toxicroak stayed valiant in the midst of the assault however, refusing to be hard pressed in the moment. As the ground shook and Earth was reigning down upon the frog's position, the Toxicroak being as quick as it was and clever as it was, leaped into a handstand stance, and then performed a hand spring after eyeing and pinpointing where the bulge of the Bulldoze attack was, and covertly sprung itself as much to the side of the force of the move as it could aiming to land on a larger boulder nearby that was less effected by the Bulldoze's impact than the rest of the landscape, taking advantage of the imbalanced terrain to help soften the attack. It didn't do much good though, for the Geodude's strength was just a bit too much.
Despite the tactic and quick thinking, Toxicroak wasn't able to entirely avoid the mass of the attack and was whacked with several rocks and overtaken with some booming vibrations from the interesting technique forcing the frog Pokemon to somewhat tumble off the tall and sturdy rock it had attempted to balance itself with previously. It could have been worse, the Toxicroak could have received the hit full out on even land without thinking on its feet, maximizing the move's power and really doing a number on it. But the slight slope and location helped in its favor somewhat, and the move wasn't incredibly deadly after all. It did shake up Nattousai's Pokemon a bit though. Steaming with rage, the Geodude kept attacking after his powerhouse move with a Rollout, Nattousai cried out to his Pokemon in desperation attempting to help keep it alert knowing full well it must have been winded from the Bulldoze execution. "TOXICROAK! Dodge that Rollout! Continue to use your speed as the advantage, it's our best option here buddy!" Toxicroak heard Nattousai's plea, but it didn't feel very speedy. The Bulldoze had dumbed down Toxicroak's muscles making him feel, well, slower a little. It shook its head trying to shrug off the aftermath of Geodude's hit, and get back into action. But thanks to its decision to move at more of a flanked position earlier, it helped with its evasion for the next forthcoming blitz from the Geodude. Though the Toxicroak's speed was somewhat hindered, the Rock type was still slow, but once it got to rolling around, it was as if its speed nearly doubled. Having hardly any time to react, the Toxicroak uses its angled location as an enhancement to evade, and with a sharp eye on the rolling Pokemon, Toxicroak using its large feet and acrobatic skills, flung itself sideways into an arched parallel jump just barely making it over the Geodude as it kept blazing by with its move. It survived by a whim there.
"Thank goodness! Good job Toxicroak! You okay?" Toxicroak rubbed its head as if it had a slight migraine, but eventually acknowledged that he was still well. Now seeing that his Pokemon can remain in this, Nattousai hatched a new battle strategy. "Toxicroak, the problem is its aggression is motivating it too much, and that Bulldoze attack cannot happen again. In order to win this without fainting it completely, we have to wear it out. That missed Rollout attack will help with the exhaustion of it, but earlier on I saw we must have injured it at least a little, because if it was completely healthy, that Bulldoze attack would have been much more hard hitting. We have an opening here pal! Toxicroak, use Venoshock aiming at the ground directly beneath Geodude to soften the dirt, acidify the land, and force it to be stuck in mud. And then, give it a fully charged Feint Attack, and aim to hit it right where it seems injured from our previous attempt!" Toxicroak devilishly grins, liking his Trainer's style and nods in recognition of the commands. The poisonous frog Pokemon begins churning its venomous sack connected to its throat, and once it sees the Geodude has slowed its rolling, jumps into the air leaping towards the Rock type from above and fires a boiling vomit of poison below soaking the Geodude and the ground beneath it with a dangerous venom. After it sees that the venom has seeped in enough, the Toxicroak, descending from the air, charges the Geodude just before landing with a Faint Attack, aiming at the softest point of the Geodude's shell to fully wear it down, but not knock it out, and giving Nattousai a chance at capturing it.

Venoshock-->Feint Attack

The Geodude ramped off the rock that it's foe had been standing on only moments past, its momentum carrying it some distance away which gave time for the agile Toxicroak to regain its footing and receive instructions from its trainer. As the Geodude came around for another pass it curled tightly into a ball. Further increasing its speed as well as its defensive posture. The acidic ground merely slowed it down as it rolled over the patch at break neck speed, this pokemon was fairly resistant to poison and hardly even took notice as it passed over the soggy acid filled ground, sending bits of steaming mud and rock flying up behind it. It was a battle of force as the Toxicroak hit the Geodude with a feint attack but due to the fact he was rolling picking a precise area to target proved difficult. Luckily the Toxicroak didn't hit the rolling pokemon head on or else he would have surely lost the battle of force. He hit from an angle, and the sheer kinetic energy of two objects colliding at such high speed sent the Geodude tumbling back and ending its roll out. The pokemon staggered a bit but remained standing. It was the first attack that had really hurt him, his own efforts after that had exhausted him further. The Toxicroaks feints and acid merely chipped away at his endurance. Mustering all its strength the Geodude ripped a sizable rock from the ground and hurled it at the Toxicroak, bellowing defiantly at both the pokemon and its trainer.

Though they thought they were being smart, they were really just wasting precious time and energy with that Venoshock move. It didn't matter if it softened the dirt or not, that Geodude was just too strong and barreled right over the mud no problem. Its Rollout didn't slow or end as Nattousai and Toxicroak had planned, it instead just redirected it a little. But it was the Feint Attack that really did the trick, this Feint Attack seemed more effective than the last one too. It must have been the angle and the accelerated leap that helped land it. The move hit Geodude with a big thud sending it bumbling backwards and cancelling out its Rollout attack. Toxicroak had to give that move a real effort to stop that muscle headed rock from flattening the frog. Somehow it worked like a charm, and the Geodude stopped rolling, but the battle was far from over. Toxicroak seemed to have become woozy after trying so hard to land that Feint Attack and overpower the Geodude's Rollout. It was off balance on its feet from attempting to recover itself after crashing into the living boulder, and began to sway. It may be that it was still feeling the effects of the previous Bulldoze attack as well.
"Toxicroak, you're doing great man! This Geodude is no joke, but I know we ALMOST have him now. Keep in tune with yourself, and let's give it another shot okay?" Toxicroak again hears the cries of Nattousai, and does its best to ignore the pain and dizziness. It tightens its fist and lets out a small grunt. Toxicroak wasn't going to go down so soon because it couldn't break a rock. It simply refused. It awaited Nattousai's next command giving him an attentive stare. But as the Pokemon waited, Nattousai would again get its back. "TOXICROAK, WATCH OUT FOR THAT FLYING ROCK!" The frog looked up and saw a boulder being flung at it thrown by the esteemed Geodude in frustration. Nattousai blurted the only thing he could think of out of his mouth. "Toxicroak, puff out your chest and use the venom sac on your throat to soften the blow!" Toxicroak thought this was a rather strange command, but it obeyed and puffs out its throat to the oncoming rock. The Rock hits the Pokemon's throat but simply bounces off not effecting the frog very much because of its slimy skin and rubbery bulbous throat in the way of the move's blow. "Nice work!" Toxicroak appreciates Nattousai's moral support, but is already antsy for another command. "Right then. Toxicroak, it's blind by rage right now, and we are trying to let it know that won't help it. If it's going to raise its defense, we are going to raise our offense! Toxicroak use Nasty Plot, and then hit it with your best Mud Bomb!!!" Toxicroak tenses up at this order, as his body emits a dark aura and smoke rises from its head. The frog was performing Nasty Plot gathering all its energy to raise its special attack. After it executed that move, it then readied a Mud Bomb as a brown bubble began to build from its mouth, bigger than the last one, and thickening to a hard sphere.
When Toxicroak felt his Mud Bomb was the best he could get it, he jerks his head and spits it out at the raging Geodude full blast. The muddy ball cuts through the air effortlessly and launches in a heap at the Geodude's frame trying to cut away through its defenses and get the upper hand in this bout. Neither Nattousai nor Toxicroak was sure how it would pan out whether it would be too strong of an attack, or too weak, the Geodude has been lasting this long, so Nattousai figured it could handle another Mud Bomb, especially from a distance, and still be conscious, but that had to be it for this, the Geodude had to be spent by now. This was it, Nattousai could really sense that this was gonna do it for them, he was hoping, nervously standing with balled hands and sweaty palms, awaiting to see the Geodude's condition after this trying push for a finish.
The Geodude narrowed its eyes as the rock bounced off the pokemon. How could something so squishy be so tough? The harder of the two pokemon had little time to ponder this though as the other pokemon's plot began to unfold. The Geodude braced as the other pokemon prepared for another attack. It's trainers shouted commands made things much more obvious. The gob of mud splashed across the Geodude, knocking it back and sticking it to a boulder. Groaning the pokemon shoved off and shook the mud from itself with a rock polish. One quick spin sent the mud that clung to it flying in all directions as it prepared its counterstrike. Mustering the last of its strength the geodude barreled at its foe, ramping off a rock and uncurling in mid air. It's massive hands reached out to grab the Toxicroak as it attempted to tackle and grapple it's foe in one last ditch attempt to vie for position and control. It's was a reckless attack but this was no territorial brawl. Losing was not an option and the Geodude was all in.
"How is it doing this!?" Nattousai continued to be baffled by the Geodude's impressive resilience. He was running out of options, he didn't know which Pokemon in this battle was more exhausted and weakened, the Geodude or his Toxicroak, they both appeared pretty worn from the fight, but there was no sure fire way to tell which one had it worse. "Toxicroak, you cannot let this Rock Type bring you down, if we want to capture it, we really need to let it know we aren't weak. Let us be deserving of its talents!" Nattousai watched as the Geodude flung the mud from its body in a spinning motion and had to give a command before it attacked again. "Toxicroak, wait until its just in front of you and then use Sucker Punch and follow up with a Pursuit! The speed of those attacks should hit first and finish this!" Geodude darted at Toxicroak with a tackling thrust with Toxicroak anticipating the Geodude's charge.
Once it was close enough, Toxicroak's right hand shined a bright purple and he struck at the oncoming Geodude as the grapple was initiated forcing the Rock Type to crash into the dirt at close range. Toxicroak then jumped at it as it slammed to the ground tackling it right back with a forceful purple infused ram driving its body deep into the terrain. It was giving Geodude everything it had to keep it down and give Nattousai the opening for a capture. But the Geodude's body was so hard that Toxicroak could never judge its damaged condition, it always seemed to be at full strength somehow. The frog Pokemon stood and watched to see if the Geodude would get back up or not, after surviving yet another, more powerful Mud Bomb previously, this Pokemon must have had more health than originally thought, so it had to have lived through Toxicroak's Dark Type attacks as well.
"Toxicroak, step back a few feet, give it some breathing room. Let's see what it has left in the tank." Toxicroak groggily takes a few steps back from the Geodude, and observes its current state, seeing if it desired to go on or not. It was a real contender, and Toxicroak had to respect the Pokemon for lasting this long, for the frog wouldn't be able to keep going too much longer with the Wild Pokemon having such copious amounts of energy still surging through it. "Be on your guard, Toxicroak, in case it comes lashing back out at you again." Toxicroak nods, putting up its arms in front of its face and hunching over covering its knees watching, and waiting.
The Geodude was once more countered and as he crashed into the ground his foe jumped atop him, continuing the assault. The Toxicroak was really pouring it on for a moment until it finally let up. The Geodude slowly pushed itself upright and managed to swing once more at the pokemon but it's punch has easily avoided as it been pushed past its breaking point. As it's fist connected with nothing but open air the pokemon fell onto its side and stopped moving. Clearly unable to continue the battle. It's eyes closed as it collapsed on the rocky ground. It hadn't fought its last fight, but the geodude wouldn't be getting up for a while but when it finally did come to its senses what would be hurt most would be it's pride.
Fainted, you can still catch pokemon after they faint here (i think, ill ask when Noes back)
It was over. Finally, it was over. The Geodude had given its everything for that last effort to win the battle, and Nattousai's beloved Toxicroak had did what it aimed to do all along, and prevailed, leaving the Geodude wide open for the capture. Toxicroak had pleased Nattousai, and the joy Nattousai felt after this amazing win, was all it took to make Toxicroak happy, and fulfilled. A Trainer's love for their Pokemon and appreciation was a special gift to the Pokemon and their help in battle. Nattousai bends down and gives Toxicroak a heartfelt hug. Its wet skin shudders with excitement until the frog eventually stops shuddering and embraces the hug feeling warm and grateful for the Trainer's thanks. "You did great buddy. You're still the strongest toad I've ever known." Toxicroak croaks with a smile continuing to absorb Nattousai's affections.
Nattousai turns to the fainted Geodude and becomes suddenly very abrupt, with a sharp gaze at the downed creature taking out an empty Poke' Ball and readying it for a capture. "Alright Toxicroak, time to see if this Geodude really wants to join our team, or hates us for giving it such a romp." Nattousai contemplates a moment, really trying to think and calculate how well a Rock Type would work with his team, and after getting a general idea, and thinking out all the possibilities of raising this Geodude to be even stronger than it was now, Nattousai goes for the capture. "JOIN US, GEODUDE!" The Poke' Ball spins into the air and smacks against the Geodude's hard skin sucking it into the device and starting the process of its containment.
Nattousai is watching intently, Toxicroak is tiredly standing in an anxious huff. The Geodude couldn't have enough to break through that Poke' Ball, it was over. This was going to be the first Wild Pokemon capture on Nattousai's new journey, and an interesting brute of a creature to train alongside his team. Nattousai would take care of him, in every way he could to ensure it liked its new home, and new Trainer. It may take a while, but Nattousai would earn its respect if it didn't already. This was going to be a great addition to the Gym Leader's army.

The ball bounced off the Geodude as it sprung open, red light enveloped the stationary pokemon as the ball began the capture sequence. After a few moments the light retracted into the ball, taking the Geodude with it. The ball snapped shut and fell to the ground, landing in the indent created by the Geodude's fist. Despite its target being totally incapacitated the ball still managed to shake for a few soul wrenching moments before it at last it decided everything was in order and locked with a satisfying click. A hard fought battle, the first of many for the Geodude and his new trainer. He might prove hard to train, but once you earn the respect of a pokemon like this you need only point it at the enemy and prepare your victory speech.
Rock On! Be sure to add the Geodude to your box and whatnot. You are welcome to continue searching for more if you'd like.

"He's...he's ours! A new addition to the team and a tough one at that! OHHHH MAN! To get a good rush of a Wild Pokemon battle like this again out in the open, it just feels right and so freeing, wouldn't ya say pal?" Toxicroak hears his trainer's celebration speech and gives him a low croak in response. After such an intense battle, Toxicroak wasn't exactly energetic. He did support Nattousai though, and he would see to it that the Geodude be properly trained and respectful to its new trainer, this was a duty the toxic frog was more than ready to undertake. Though Nattousai would be the one doing most of the training, Toxicroak will surely speed the process along the best it could. If they were to build a solid team on this new journey, they would need to get to training it right away and onto the next Pokemon capture.
"It's quite fulfilling, isn't it? And dare I say this is even more of a thrill than those countless boring gym battles I always have to subject myself to....it's been a while since anyone real promising has stepped foot in my gym doors. Maybe I should make it easier for them to win, what do you think?" Toxicroak gives a loud grunt detesting the idea and shooting it down flat out, this Pokemon wasn't ever going to go easy on anyone, and neither should the rest of the team back at the gym. Nattousai sniffs the mountain air being wrapped up in the nostalgia of nature and enjoying it far too much. He doesn't want to leave, in fact, not anytime soon anyway. "It's so nice out here....being cooped up in that poisonous gym of mine is just a drag man." Toxicroak gives Nattousai an evil eye. Nattousai gets the picture.
"I know, I know...I signed up to be a stinkin gym leader trust me I understand the regulations and what not. Honestly I'm surprised nobody throws a fit when gym leaders like me go on outings like this....guess I can at least be grateful of that eh?" Nattousai's Pokemon continues giving him a disappointed glare. "Yeah yeah...well listen...I know you must be tired...but...let's keep walking a little more okay? Please? If we run into another Wild Pokemon I give you my word that if you're not feelin up to snuff we will breeze right passed it and head back." Toxicroak's evil glare suddenly turns into a flickering sneer in Nattousai's direction, the frog was obviously overworked at this point, and it wanted to go back.
"Oh...man....yeah you're beat I can see that. Just a walk though, just a little further..." If this was Nattousai's idea of persuasion he was really turning on the liar switch. Toxicroak was too loyal to the man to second guess him though, and thought a small additional walk couldn't be too bad. It reluctantly agrees and Nattousai lights up with joy. "YES! Thanks buddy! I just wanna reach the top of this hill over here and see the view. Then we can split." Nattousai reaches the top of the rocky hill him and Toxicroak were climbing leaving the waste and the debris of their previous battle from the freshly caught Geodude in shambles behind them.
"Oh yowza! What a view! Look, it's the entire route, and you can even see Morii and the Shallow Islands from here too! It's breathtaking! Let's sit and take a quick rest before heading back down." Nattousai comfortably sits in the dirt resting on his backpack as a body rest and Toxicroak cuddles up next to him leaning back on its hind legs rubbing up against Nattousai for warmth and watching the horizon provided by the beautiful landscape beyond. Though a violent world, and a scary world, the Pokemon world was also one of serenity and bliss, and Rakuen wasn't shy in showing its magnificence even in the slightest. The islands were its own special kind of paradise, though to others it may not seem as such, it was the simplicity that made it so; least to the wildlife and the budding plants growing high and proudly for all to see at every step. It was its own art form, and it was gorgeous.
The two continued bathing in the sunlight of the rocky ridge still wide open for any Pokemon to storm by them and ruin their peace and quiet. If they were left alone to bask, that wouldn't be all that bad, but Nattousai, secretly, was also kinda hoping for one more Pokemon encounter to make his day, and he was hoping it was going to blow him away with its ability. For now, the two would take a lax approach, and if a Pokemon came along to greet them, they would try and this time actually be friendly first. Unless they were going to be assaulted, then, well, that's just plain rude.
The route remained peaceful in the wake of Nattousai's victory, allowing him ample time to enjoy the view and reflect on what transpired. Rays of sunlight bathed the route in warmth and all around pokemon were enjoying the warmth. One such pokemon was a particularly uppity Marowak. It lounged at behind a rock not to far away, sleeping blissfully until it was interrupted. Directly beneath it a Larvitar tunneled up from the ground, having finally eaten all the soil between it and the surface. Mistaking the Marowak for a rock the young Larvitar pushed it away and crawled into the sunlight for the first time. Waking up abruptly the Marowak was obviously startled to be moved by something directly under it. Quick to anger it began to shout at the Larvitar but when the young pokemon only blinked in response the Marowak decided it had its fill of what it perceived to be a churlish whelp. It tackled the Larvitar and the two began to screech and howl at each other as they tumbled about. The sound of their fight was heard long before they were visible but eventually the pair tumbled into view of Nattousai and his Toxicroak. The Larvitar landed on its back with the Marowak pouncing on top and raising its bone club. Then they both froze, suddenly aware they were no longer alone. The Larvitar shoved the Marowak off and both got to their feet, staring at the trainer.
So far the Larvitar hadn't met anyone on the surface besides the Marowak and these two new figures were larger than it was. A bit frightened the Larvitar took a nervous step away from them as if it would run at the first chance. The Marowak however was not pleased to find yet more people disturbing its hill. It stood its ground, waiting for them to make a move. This left Nattousai with a dilemma, neither of the pokemon would defend each other obviously. If battle broke out one of them would likely flee, did he want to pick sides in this quarrel, perhaps he wanted to catch one. Maybe it just wasn't his fight. Tension hung in the air as both pokemon watched the two strangers closely, still riled up from their earlier tussle.

The peace did not last long. Just as Nattousai was beginning to enjoy the day and Toxicroak was settling in for a quick nap, the sound of grunts and growls were heard behind them. Toxicroak rolls its eyes wondering what could possibly be preventing it and its trainer from relaxing. The duo turn around only to see a Wild Larvitar and Wild Marowak going at it in some kind of tussle. It looked as if the Marowak had the upper hand the moment Nattousai and Toxicroak saw them and had the Larvitar pinned, but as soon as the trainer and his companion had interrupted them with their presence, the two separated and became extremely cautious. Both seemed to emote different feelings however, the Larvitar was scared...nervous even....and the Marowak was much like the Geodude captured a bit ago, tough, fierce, unwavering. Nattousai was going to play it cool this time, and he was going to try and mediate, at least for a little while, to the full extent of his wisdom, how to keep these two at bay and piece together what happened.
"Psst...Toxicroak....do what I do okay? And if you understand what I'm saying to them, reiterate as calmly as you can. Remember, be friendly, we can't afford to get into another fight with such a long way back to the city." Toxicroak hears Nattousai perfectly fine as he whispers this, and sticks by him mimicking his every move. And his first move was raising one hand up while slowly putting down his backpack with the other. "Hey guys...no need to fight. Are you hungry? Here..." Nattousai pulls out a few pellets of Pokemon food while Toxicroak kindly signals to the Pokemon that it's all ok, and Nattousai is a friend. The frog points to the food as Nattousai places it on the ground inviting the wild creatures to eat. "And Marowak...I'm really sorry if we are invading your space, and I will take full responsibility for whatever that Larvitar did to upset you. I'm sure it was all just a mistake. You hungry Marowak? I have plenty more where that came from, I'll even give you a separate pile." Thinking smart assuming the Marowak didn't want to share food with the Larvitar, Nattousai carefully places another pile of it away from the mini sand dragon so they both can eat a hefty sum of food each. Toxicroak ushers the two Pokemon to their food without touching them, but instead gestures them to their own food piles with a friendly smile. Observing the Larvitar further, Nattousai realizes this one might be younger than Marowak, and a bit more playful, so he gently takes out his key ring of trinkets and small keychains he had gathered and forged himself from his time at the toxic waste facility back home, being sure not to include his important keys on a separate ring in case it wanted to run off with it, and casually places it next to the Larvitar's food.
He whispers to the Larvitar warmly. "Just in case you feel energetic after the meal, there's a toy for you." He chuckles silently to himself stepping away from the Larvitar now to leave it with its food and play time if it so desired to inspect the keys out of curiosity. Nattousai gives Toxicroak a wink, hinting that he do some similar friendly offering to the Marowak. Unsure exactly what to do, Toxicroak tries to show Marowak some of its acrobatic skills while it ate...or didn't eat...it's food. Whether hungry or not, Toxicroak pegged Marowak for a competitive type like the Geodude, so it was trying to entice it to show off some skills of its own in a game of old fashioned flexibility and good fun. Toxicroak was trying to present itself as harmless as it could by doing balancing acts and stretchy poses, but with two Pokemon and two completely different personalities, it was impossible to say what the outcome would be. Nattousai watched his Toxicroak's hard working efforts to please the Marowak, so he begins taking out a deck of cards he had brought and begins making a house of cards out of it. It was the entertainment by a foolish Trainer and his partner, but it was non-threatening and that was important. Could it even be possible that he can impress them both and have not one, but TWO new friends on his team?
He was going to try....he was going to try real hard.

Both pokemon stared at the food skeptically, the Marowak didn't seem too hungry. Nor was it keen on letting its guard down. It was a strong, skilled and independent pokemon. If it wanted food it would have taken it. As a general rule it was weary of trainers, if it wasn't so cautious around them it would have been captured long ago. The Larvitar however had a different reason for avoiding the food.Larvitar were born deep underground, they had to literally eat their way through a copious amount of dirt before they could emerge on the surface. This one had eaten more than its fill just getting here and now that it was besieged by hostile pokemon and strange trainers it had no desire to eat what so ever. It took a few steps backwards before turning and running away down the hill. Despite the trainers best efforts the situation was simply far too tense to defuse with treats.
The Marowak didn't even bother to watch the fleeing Larvitar, all it wanted was for everyone to get off it's hill. The trainers Toxicroak was faster than the Larvitar. It could still be easily caught provided they gave chase before it got to its burrow and vanished underground again. There were only seconds to make the choice. Chase down the young Larvitar or stay and trifle with the Marowak further. One was already strong, a worthy rival for any pokemon. The other was still young, while it may be weak and afraid now it could be shaped and grown into a real powerhouse with enough time and patience. Of course, there was still the matter of actually defeating and catching them if that is what the trainer desired. No matter what his choice the seconds left to make it were rapidly ticking away.
