| Luce Dublin | | Luce was looking for trouble. Well, sort of. Today his goal was to strengthen his team, and in order to do that, he had to battle. In order to battle, he either had to fight wild pokemon, or, as the pamphlet at the pokemon center suggested, battle other trainers. TV said that you’ve only got to lock eyes with another trainer to have a pokemon battle, but if that were true Luce would’ve battled a good fifty some people already and the pokemon center would never know peace. So what then? If he saw someone, did he just walk up to them and say “I want a pokemon battle”? It sounded simple enough, but what if they were a lot stronger than him? His finneon and chinchou had never been in a battle besides the ones in which he caught them.
Luce walked alone along the path that ran by the forest. There were a number of people on the road, as the guide on the way out of town had predicted. Most were chatting with others or battling wild pokemon or otherwise looking like they were busy and not taking battle requests at the moment. It was all quite noisey.
Perhaps he’d wander off the path a bit to find passage through the area where he wasn’t being constantly assaulted by loud conversations or the explosion of pokemon battles. Luce took his advice. Making sure he wasn’t going to be crossing through anyone’s fight, the trainer departed from the path.
He wandered into the field until the number of people per square meter lessened to a reasonable figure. Hopefully he’d still be able to find battles.

Wannabe Finley A girl stood among a group of friends, they seemed to be having some sort of debate. It was impossible to catch the entire conversation but it seemed to be about whether or not you were a trainer until you had actually won a battle. By the sound of it the orange haired girl talked a big game but her friends did nothing but poke fun. In fact now that he got a better view she did look a bit old to be a novice trainer but some times people just got onto the pokemon bandwagon late. The orange haired, turtleneck wearing girl believed that because she had two pokemon she was a trainer, but her friends seemed to think that because they had won battles and she hadn't that they were the real trainers and she wasn't yet. They seemed occupied amongst themselves until the girl suddenly yelled. "Fine, I'll show you." She said, leaving the group and pointing at Luce rather aggressively. "You there! I shall give you the honor of a quick and crushing defeat." She said pulling out a pokeball and releasing the creature inside. A Metapod popped out and landed on the ground, staring into the distance without moving at all. "Uh. Not with that." She withdrew the Metapod and dug around in her pocket for her other Pokeball. "With this!" The oranged haired girl said, releasing her Patrat who seemed just as rambunctious as she was.

| Luce Dublin | | A trainer with a very intimidating metapod and a truly terrifying patrat does Luce’s job for him. He turned to face the new trainer. “You’re going to beat me with those pokemon?” Luce scoffed. “You are looking for a quick and crushing defeat.”
Luce had absolutely no idea what he was doing. Battle banter? That’s what it had sounded like. He’d just sort of replied in kind and that’s what came out.
Whatever, he was going with it. Reaching into his back, Luce thought through what pokemon he should choose. And that’s when he realized he’d made a horrible mistake. Both Finneon and Chinchou were fish pokemon. Without legs.
This was a relatively wet region, yes, but as far as water went, there was a severe lack of it around him. Could his two water types fight on land? Retrieving Cacnea’s ball, Luce hoped he wouldn’t have to find out.
Cacnea released onto the battlefield ready to go. She locked eyes with the patrat, unphased by the hypnotic and unessarily creepy gaze the normal type had to its.
“Cacnea, growth then leech seed.” Luce commanded. He was getting right into this battle.
The grass type let out a yell of the joy of battle, her body gaining temporary size and strength. Sucking air in, she creates a seed deep within her belly that, with a violent exhale, she sends shooting at the patrat to latch the life-sucking move onto it.

Wannabe Finley - Patrat "Dodge!" The trainer commanded as the Cacnea's attack began. There was a slight glint from her pokemon's eye as it predicted the attack and jumped backwards kicking sand at its opponent. The Patrat had used detect to evade the attack easily and the following sand attack seemed to have been part of a rehearsed combo. The trainer turned to her friends. "See. We practiced that." She gloated, taking her eyes off the battle instead of pressing her advantage. The Patrat waited for her next command, it remained focused but was unclear on how to proceed without her guidance. It appeared the trainer hadn't rehearsed more than it's opening gambit. She would need to focus if they stood any chance of winning this. The Patrat seemed to understand this and cast a quick glance back at it's trainer, nervously awaiting the next command. Detect - Sand Attack

| Luce Dublin | | Cacnea was not prepared to react to two moves fired off so close to one another. She was still watching where her seed ricochet off when the sand hit her in the face. Cacnea shook, trying to get the dirt out of her eyes.
“Detect can’t be used in succession.” Luce said smugly, trying to sound smart. “Cacnea, poison sting then leech seed.”
The grass type lunged at the patrat, attempting to strike it while its guard was down. The spikes on her club-like arms glowing purple with poison. Cacnea swung as hard as she could at what her blurring eyes said was most likely the patrat. The force nearly knocked her off balance and backwards. She a step away so as to not land on her back. She was in closer range now, as Luce had hoped the move would take her - another leech seed shot from Cacnea’s mouth at the normal type pokemon.

Wannabe Finley - Patrat One of her friends smirked and nodded back to the battle as the Cacnea mounted its assault. She had been caught off guard - again. It was really the story of this trainer's life. Without time to give it a proper command the trainer was forced to watch her pokemon take the hit. "Shake it off" She yelled. Her Patrat picked itself up off the ground and grasped at one of the seeds which had latched onto its arm. It ripped the seed of and cried with pain. There were still more on it and the pokemon couldn't remove them all. "We can still win this." The trainer called out, her pokemon responded by pounding its fists together. Getting worked up as it prepared to strike back. "Patrat, Crunch!" She ordered, an instant later the Patrat charged with it's teeth bared and ready to sink into it's enemy. Work up, Crunch
