What an interesting turn of events. The barrel was protected by a Litwick! The little candle ghost whisked over to Nattousai and his Larvitar in a disapproving scorn preventing the two from recovering their treats. How weird, Nattousai had never come across this before. What was it about this candy that a ghost Pokemon needed to stand guard? Why was it everywhere? What did the candies do other than be a savory treat for the road? There were many questions unsolved and revolving around these numerous barrels scattered all across the land. Nothing just appears, someone or something had to have set them everywhere, and the Gym Leader would eventually get to the bottom of all of this....just not yet. Larvitar growled at the Litwick as it came near, ready to fight if need be. It wanted that candy, as did Nattousai, and there was no reason in its small mind that the ghost would see to it no candy would be given to them. Nattousai would try first, with some questioning, to try and understand the spite from the ghost. "Why can't we take some of this candy? It's not like we haven't before at other places. Where did you come from? Why are there so many of these barrels?" Larvitar tries repeating what Nattousai was saying to the floating candle, but they both had a feeling it wasn't in a mood to listen.
It may very well not know anything about the barrels and be just as oblivious as Nattousai and the Larvitar was. But Nattousai remembered that a Litwick evolved all the way up to a Chandelure, and those were some devastatingly powerful Pokemon to acquire. Plus, Jodie would be insanely jealous of him if he had captured it. Perhaps this Pokemon encounter would prove far better than any candy. Nattousai went from annoyed, to now fully engrossed in this ghost's interference. He was given a blessing, not a curse, in this Pokemon's intrusion. Now he would have a chance at catching a new partner, and this one would be a deadly weapon and giant help to his team. "Sorry for all those questions Litwick, and forgive the impoliteness of my thieving ways. We should have asked you first before taking I suppose. But aren't you bored of guarding a barrel? If you come with me, you could have all the candy you could ever want!" Larvitar let out a cheer at this thought supporting its Trainer in trying to convince the Litwick.
The ghost looked pretty set on sticking around to guard the candy though, and none too happy. This whole scenario was rapidly leaning to a battle, and Larvitar was more than ready for one. It wanted to prove itself after losing to the Marowak before, even though Nattousai didn't need it to prove anything, he knew what it was capable of, and it almost won despite things, but it still craved a win, and a part of it screamed for the Litwick to attack just so it could be given another shot at a fight. Nattousai remained composed, and would stay composed until the Litwick became more threatening. The Larvitar tried keeping calm as well, but its whole body throbbed with the anticipation of battle, and she was on her toes prepared to pounce at any second. The decision would be up to the Litwick though, Nattousai wasn't going to give any order to fight if the ghost was shown to be peaceful. Nattousai and his Larvitar were thieves and common criminals in its eyes though, the Gym Leader was sure it wouldn't be so willingly nice.
The trainer looked at her in an almost quizzical fashion. His look was soon explained with a slew of questions that his Pokemon worked on translating. The Litwick furrowed her brow, mildly annoyed at the Larvitar for translating. She understood people perfectly fine and didn't need something repeating everything he was saying. The Pokemon scowled at the tamed creature before turning her attention to the trainer. He wanted to know why he couldn't take the candy and that he had done so at other places. How had he gotten away with his thievery?! She needed to take back the candies that had been stolen. But first, she felt obligated to clear a few things up. "The candy needs to stay in the jack-o-laterns! They belong to them, not you! They needed to reveal themselves this year because of the source! We've always been here." Of course, everything the Litwick said came out in a series of lits and wicks and various combinations of the two.
The ghost crossed her arms in distress. She knew the trainer had more of the candies and she needed to get to them but the Larvitar was on guard. Any advances she made would surely result in a fight where she would get hurt. That was when the trainer spoke again, thankfully this time without the annoying interpreter. He apologized and asked if she was bored of guarding the barrel and that she should join them for all of the candy that she wanted. An idea spawned. If she could get the trainer to pick her up she could easily locate the candies and return them to their rightful spot.
The Litwick hopped forward, her arms raised and a smile on her face. She gave a small nod and hopped forward a little more. Her voice made a series of gleeful sounds as she intended to say, "Pick me up, take me with you!" She stretched her arms out more, hoping the trainer would get what she was trying to say. She prayed that he would be gullible enough to fall for her trap to get the candies.
"Would you look at that, the cute little thing actually doesn't want to fight after all." Nattousai watches as it floats over to him reaching out to be grabbed dimming its flame slightly so it can be held safely. "Come here, you!" He extends his arms to scoop it up, but then he remembers something and retracts his arms before it got any closer. "Oh here Larvitar, hold on to my candies while I carry this cutie. Don't want its flame to melt them!" Nattousai hands off his bundle of candy to his trusty Larvitar as she jealously holds on to them watching as the ghost Pokemon is held by the Gym Leader in his arms. The Larvitar was not happy with the ghost taking all its Trainer's affection from it and was really trying hard to stop itself from eating all the candy right then and there. Its golden wrappers called to it in an insatiable hunger. The Larvitar was sweating bullets just to prevent the candies from being devoured into its maw. "There there ghostie....look at you, its like you haven't ever been held before." At first Nattousai could tell the Litwick wasn't one to enjoy the cuddling and love it was being given, but after a while, Nattousai was getting it to warm up to him nuzzling it into his chest and resting its head on his heart beat giving it nothing but warmth.
The Gym Leader was no breeder, but he picked up a few tricks after raising a few baby Pokemon himself. Those Pokemon being a Croagunk and his current Larvitar. The Larvitar shivered in rage and tugged on Nattousai's pant leg still gripping the candy looking up at him in tears also wanting to be held and cuddled. "Oh Larvitar, you know I got plenty of love for you too girlie." Nattousai pets the Larvitar on her head and rubs its chin while still holding the Litwick close to his chest. The wax from the Litwick would soon drip down his clothes so he wouldn't be able to hold it for much longer, but to show how much he cared for the ghost he would endure the heat it was giving off and the melted wax for it to feel safe and secure in his tender care. Both Pokemon were beyond adorable, naturally he had a deeper bond with his Larvitar rather than the Litwick he hardly just met, but he was starting to tell that the Litwick would quickly grow attached at this rate.
"You see, Litwick, this is what you can look forward to with someone like me." Nattousai continued to allow the candle Pokemon to rest in his breast for as long as it wanted. Nattousai's Larvitar would continue enjoying Nattousai's petting and stroking across its cheeks, and eventually the Gym Leader would exhaust from exhorting too much warmth and energy to the two Pokemon, but he kept it up as long as he could bear it to try and connect with the Litwick while also growing closer to his Larvitar, whom in which still kept a firm grip on the candies he had with him. An idea crossed Nattousai's mind to try and sneakily capture the Litwick while it was distracted like this, but none of his hands were free to unleash a Poke' Ball for a catch, so he remained stuck without the use of his arms except to nurture the two Pokemon. He would continue this cuddle session remaining optimistic that the Litwick would find him a worthy companion to join him in his travels, or the Litwick would grow bored and bounce away, in which case, he would then engage it in a capture.
The trainer was eager to pick up the ghost Pokemon only after handing away the treats. The Litwick glared at the tamed Pokemon as she greedily held the treats. The trainer cuddled with the ghost for what seemed like ages. He had to be getting hot and she certainly was feeling the heat. She had even lowered her flame to make him more comfortable but it seemed that she would have to turn it up to make herself more comfy. And then of course, she had to find a way to get the candies from the other Pokemon. Clearly the pair was against her having any and they didn't even understand them!
She had to think of a new plan and a new plan fast. She was still in the arms of the man with the candies so far away. They would not let her get close to them, that was already established when the trainer handed them off for fear of being melted. She would have to earn their trust and earn it fast so that she could prevent them from taking any more of the treats. A second plan began to hatch in the Litwick's mind. If she was captured by the trainer then she would be able to have access to the candy and then she could replace it. She could also monitor the trainer and make sure that he didn't steal any more from the barrels while they existed. It was the perfect monitoring program! Now the question was how did she convey her ideas of capture to the trainer without looking like she just wanted the candy?
The Litwick wiggled free from the trainer and made her way to his bag. She dug around for a hefty moment before emerging with a Pokeball, presenting it to the trainer. She smiled and her flame blazed a little brighter. "Please, I want to go with you!" she cried out in a series of Pokemon sounds, pushing the ball closer to the human in hopes he would understand.
"I guess it's settled then." Nattousai allows the Litwick to dig into his bag and fish out a Poke' Ball. The ghost finds one of his last empty Poke' Balls and presents it to him nudging it into his hands so that he could capture it. Nattousai began to prep the ball for the capture upon the Litwick's descent down to the ground. He looked at his Larvitar who didn't seem too pleased with the decision, not having an uneasy feeling out of jealousy though, but moreso out of precaution, sensing something a bit off about this mischievous ghost. The Larvitar snickered at the Litwick, but ultimately it was Nattousai's decision, and he was choosing not to pay any mind to his Larvitar's distress. He does however, wink at his Larvitar and whispers something softly so the Litwick doesn't hear. "Not to fret my friend, this Litwick has no idea how persuasive I can be when I change a heart." Nattousai turns right back to the Litwick and cocks his hand back for the catch. "Okay Litwick, come...WITH ME!" The ball flies out of Nattousai's hand and clinks against the Litwick's head, consuming the Pokemon within its frame and closing shut onto the floor. The ball then started its infamous rolling. The thrill was on. Larvitar realized there was no turning back now, they would soon have yet another new friend to acquire, and this one was going to be the biggest trouble maker of them all, at least that's the feeling the Larvitar got in the pit of its stomach. She would soon find out, as would Nattousai, what kind of trouble this ghost would cause.
Nattousai felt safe to speak after the Pokemon was dragged into the ball and taken into the capturing process. He calmed his Larvitar but still spoke in a whisper in case the ghost could somehow continue to hear through the device it was now in. "Do not fret Larvitar, I am not easily fooled. I know this catch was too easy. I know this Litwick is up to something. But I have a good feeling that I can teach it the importance of honesty and cooperation. The more it spends time with me, the more it will change for the better. It will be challenging, as all training is, but also rewarding after all is said and done. This ghost will be one of our best captures yet. You'll see." Nattousai tried to see the bright side to everything, rarely was he ever a bright guy, but when it came to the subject of Pokemon and Pokemon training or catching, he had a passion that could not be matched and he was always optimistic. Without hope, or faith, or confidence, a Trainer is nothing but an empty shell to a Pokemon, an unfeeling vessel that will do the Pokemon no good. He needed to be a role model to all his Pokemon, he needed to stay positive for them, because they were with him every step of the way, and they deserved that. Through the bad and the good, each one was always there for him, and this Litwick would be too, whether it knew it or not, it would be too....
The Litwick is a determined soul. Once her mind is set on something she will do everything in her power to complete the task. Of course, this can often cause getting lost from the true point of what she was doing. While she may be obsessive and detail orientated, she makes for a great companion if you can convince her that battling is her newest quest instead of whatever she may have been set upon before.
