» APPEARANCE Cas has one bad eye. It’s his left, and if he closes his right, he can’t see that big “E” on the eye charts. The other one’s fine-ish, enough that he can see through it fine enough. Regardless, you’ll be hard pressed to find the guy without his glasses. His eyes themselves are brown, but seem to change color based on the time of year. His light brown hair has grown to a length that could render it shaggy, but it’s straight enough and he takes good enough care of it that it still comes out looking well kept (that isn’t to say it stays out of his eyes). Cas’s face is of average weight and pointed, and his body is of average height and slightly under average weight. He’s of average physical fitness and of good posture, except after testing his physical fitness. His voice is a little high for a male and if he’s the loudest in the room, well, then he’s the only one there. He can lack presence at times, but when he does have someone’s attention there’s a friendly aura about him. Probably due to that smile. » PERSONALITY If he were to be type-cast, Cas would get the part of the straight man. Nothing sticks out about him as especially odd. He’s generally friendly, but isn’t immune to bad moods. He can’t be read like an open book, but he won’t win a game of poker. He laughs at the good jokes, goans at the bad, and if someone is acting weird, he’s going to feel weirded out. He’ll like those who are friendly, look up to those who are cool, dislike those who are adversive. One could call him normal. While most people can place themselves as an “introvert” or “extrovert”, Cas finds himself somewhere in the middle. He enjoys speaking with people be them old friends or new faces, but just as much is to be gained from reading a book, staring into space, or happily doing his own thing. Cas is by no means shy, and he’s as happy to chat as anyone else, but he won’t be the first to the karaoke mic. Cas is a jack of all trades; skilled at many but master of none. New skills come to him quickly. He can consistently be found in second or third place but alas, that gold trophy will never be his. This carries even to the skills he’s best at. He thinks, “hey, I’m pretty good at this”, and someone will come along and beat him soundly. On some of his more down days, it can make him feel inept, and over time has started to feed into a lack of confidence. It doesn’t help that somewhere deep inside, Cas wants power. He wants to be the strongest, like no one ever was; where this comes from he isn’t sure, but it’s a big part of what drives him forward. If he were to take a guess, he’d guess his want for power was to protect his friends. This would be half true. He also has a streak of selfishness, and sometimes, to get what you want, you need to have power. However, Cas does value those close to him more than anything else; he’ll fight for them through fear and danger. If faced with the choice of saving a friend or a hundred random people, he’d choose the friend. Unlike many who have this trait, Cas is not willing to give his life for someone else - when it comes to mortality, it seems he’s a bit of a coward. In a world full of so many talented people (not to mention powerful beings that can shoot electricity out of their faces), he wants to be worth something, and does society not say that power is equivalent to worth? Cas is the sort to be swayed by that sort of idea, as he isn’t grounded in any set of morals. He has the potential to make both of what a monetary system would deem “good” and “evil” choices. It all depends on what he weighs as his best option. But whatever happens, Cas is simply glad to be alive. He takes simple pleasure in many things, from the smell of fresh bread to a good book, and he’s not willing to give that up. Also, Cas really likes puns. Be it through truth, lies, or just the right delivery, Cas is apt at bringing others over to his side of an argument. He’s also a talented white liar. While he’ll have some trouble looking you in the eye and lying about something potentially life-changing, he can tell you all about how good your horrible cooking is without missing a beat. He’s skilled at connecting seemingly separated topics or facts, and he’s good at saying what people want to hear. This is more of a mode than a constant factor of his personality; he’s not going to be lying to you constantly about how your hair looks or trying to get you to buy something. However, if Cas is in a panic he’ll naturally start doing this. Cas is skilled at writing. He’s good with words and at spinning what would normally be a boring story into something to occupy yourself with on the bus ride to work. His writing is the sort one can zone out to, but you can’t deny he has skill. He’s good at pulling out the important and interesting bits, and connecting dots others may not. Will he always choose the best story, putting good journalism above all else? Of course not. Half the time he’s writing about simple things going on in town; a new sculpture, small heroics, because that’s what he likes. He’s also quite good at listening. He won’t zone out during conversation, and he enjoys hearing all that people have to say. He will also always remember what they said, so if you tell him a secret he’s not just going to forget. Despite being good at persuasion, Cas can be somewhat easily persuaded himself because of his shaky moral compass. Thankfully, he has the common sense to step back and mull over the important things. He’s not afraid to say he doesn’t have enough information to make a decision. He will be getting that information too- Cas isn’t a big fan of uncertainty. It’ll bug him like a bad itch. » HISTORY Cas was born in Unova. He’s a city boy, born and raised, and for much of his childhood, until the age of thirteen, he lived a pretty normal life; the only difference to his peers came when he delayed getting his first pokemon in pursuit of an education. And then, nothing. No, it not that he didn’t do anything of note, Cas literally can’t remember years 13 through 18. His soonest memory is in the spring of his 18th year, he was sitting on a park bench minding his business like any other day. It took him all day to realize he couldn’t remember the past five years, it happened so casually. It’s been about six months since then. For the first month or so he tried to figure out what he did know. He’d gotten a general education and further schooling in writing, apparently - he had a certificate for that his belongings he found back at the hotel room whose key was in his pocket, and he was apparently very good at keeping up with the latest fashion trends. He did have a phone, but it lacked any contacts, and when he tried contacting his family, he came up dry (something that still worries him to this day). He had no job, but he did have a surprising amount of money in his bank account. Said funds were enough to get Casseus through that month, but at that point he figured he should probably get a job. After applying for an absurd number of them, Cas got accepted to one he would grow to greatly enjoy - journalism. Time passed and Cas wrote many articles. He wasn’t famous by any stretch, but he was the guy who was always there if you needed an article to fill some space or on really short notice. Through his job, Cas was registered as a trainer. Not that he's had much in the way of exerience. Journalism doesn't lend itself to battle much, and his oldest of his two companion, his growlithe, has only been with him for a month and a half. He’s still curious as to what happened those five years, but he doesn’t let it rule his life or thoughts. He’s only 19, after all, and has plenty of life ahead of him. Most recently, the branch of his newspaper in Rakuen has been short staffed, and in need of some in-field journalists. “This is the perfect time for me to really start my journey as a trainer and become strong,” Cas thought to himself as he was the only one to volunteer to leave for the far-away region on what was very short notice. | ||
