The Rakuen Times November 8, 2015 MYSTERIOUS JACK-O-LANTERNS DISAPPEAR WITH A CACKLE O n October 21st, mysterious barrels appeared across the region. Each was painted with the face of a Jack-O-Lantern, a seasonal object, often carved into a pumpkin, from other regions. The barrels came packed with golden candy that seemed to have utterly no value. There is no record of anyone eating the candy nor what it tastes like. The candy appeared to just be a collectible item that many trainers traded for much needed good.
The barrels themselves never seemed to empty regardless of how many people took the candy. It was also noted that each person could only take from a barrel once. After they had grabbed the golden candy the barrel would snap shut on its own and never open again.
After eight days of the barrels being in existence, several reports came in saying that Ghost-type Pokemon were protecting the barrels. Each of the attacks was centered around trainers trying to reach into the barrel when a ghost appeared and either tried to attack the trainer or distract the trainer.
It is unsure whether the barrels were an elaborate prank by Ghost fanatics in the region or perhaps even by the ghosts themselves. Reporter Melissa Banks interviewed Jodie Mercy, the leader of the Lost Shrine Gym and suspected prankster. Jodie stated that she did | not know the cause of the barrels. "I found the first one at the shrine, tucked in the corner of one of the houses," she said. She then traveled the region like the rest of the trainers in search for more of the barrels.
In total there were twelve barrels across the entire region. Most of them appeared to be located in major cities or tourist locations. Two barrels were randomly placed on routes outside of Crystal City. This led investigators to believe that the source of the barrels was coming from somewhere near there. There was no proof to back this theory until the barrels disappeared.
It was after eighteen days that the strange barrels disappeared from the region overnight. There are a few reports of the barrels simply fading away right in front of trainers who wished to take a few more candies as their own. At eleven PM, on November 7, residents in Crystal City heard a loud laughter that was described as a cackle. One resident who had been walking the streets happened to look to the sky and states, "There in the sky was a ghostly image of Giratina, laughing."
Scientists believe that while the barrels were scattered across our region, our dimension and the reverse world were overlapping, causing the ghostly barrels to appear. This theory also accounts for the violence that ghost Pokemon had while the barrels were in effect.
