Who would have figured this would happen? Well, Adrian kind of did. He had invited Jodie, a gym leader and in a sense, co-worker, with him to go and visit the isles on a little adventure. After some time hanging out together he had learned that she seemed to share his interest in taking adventures and explorations, all that jazz. So when realizing he had a chance to go check the Isles, a place with rare and sometimes very different Pokemon, he figured perhaps Jodie would want to tag along. Besides, it never hurt to have company. Although Mikki was being rather sour, still pouting at having to share his trainer with somebody else. Typical for the Jigglypuff.
Adrian by far only had Mikki and Crash, a Roggenrola, whom he would probably work on training while on the Isles. Also recently he had been letting Mikki learn a lot of new moves and some he wanted to try out during this time he had. Hopefully too he could catch something nice or good for the team. He did want to build a nice team for casual outings as well, especially knowing he would feel safer. Mikki was pretty strong in his own right, sure, and Crash could make quite a powerhouse too. Although a full team was always a safe bet.
Eventually the ferry in which Adrian was on began to pull into the docks. The young man glanced to Jodie. "Well, I guess we are here. This should be interesting..." He commented, feeling excited for this and raring to go. If he saw a dragon with some unnatural colors, he would probably squeal. Adrian loved his dragons, but even just any other Pokemon would be perfectly fine with him if it was one he could bond with. It was never really the appearance or the type that mattered, but the Pokemon as an individual.

O h joy, another adventure with a league member! How would this one go, Jodie wondered? Hopefully nothing too important would explode.
Jodie’d yet to really get to know Adrian; they’d met and chatted before (particularly after she had just eaten that stupid candy, how embarrassing), but he currently sat in her “acquaintance” category. It was her mission, or one of her missions today, to change that. After all, he was the dragon type elite four. You had to get to know someone like that.
So it was mildly ironic that Adrian’s out pokemon was a little pink fairy type. Not just in the sense that a dragon had a completely different image from the cute ball that is jigglypuff, but that, from what she’d heard, that type was devastating to dragon types. More than once, Jodie found herself staring at the jigglypuff, trying to imagine the pokemon taking down a dragon.
Jodie’s own out pokemon was a little unusual. Her usual companion, the large ball of purple with red eyes and fangs, was nowhere to be seen. Instead, her newly evolved metang floated alongside her, disrupting the boat’s technology whenever they floated past it. Gengar had decided he wanted a bit of a break from Jodie’s shenanigans, so he was going to be hanging out at the Shrine for this trip. Metang seemed to be perfectly happy with this. It was their time to shine; at last, after traveling with Jodie and ramming to a good number of things with their sole move (leaving large dents), they’d at last evolved. Jodie was also excited to try out their comparatively vast movepool.
Also out was Prince the feebas, whom Jodie had been trying to teach surf. While the HM had supposedly worked, the old fish was having none of it and elected to hang out in Jodie’s arms. He was mistaken first for a very old plushy, and then a really ugly handbag (someone literally came up to her and said, “Miss I have to tell you, you really should consider shopping for a new bag. That one isn’t befitting- oh, that’s your pokemon. Terribly sorry.”).
Before long, they arrived on the island. Feebas under one arm, Metang hovering beside, Jodie followed Adrian off the boat. “Here indeed.” She said, rubbing her chin and scanning the horizon. “Let’s see if the island lives up to its reputation, shall we?”
A grin on her face and a skip in her step, Jodie was ready for whatever this island wanted to throw at the two of them. | |
