NAME: NALANI PIERSON
Appearance: Nalani, naturally, has hair as black as the night that falls just past his ears, a little more whenever he lets it become unkempt and longer. However, Nalani has a tendency to bleach his hair, leaving it almost as white as snow. Since his hair grows at a slow rate, he often doesn't have to deal with redyeing his hair for a few years until the black roots become too unbearable for him or if the white begins to fade into grey. The latter does not happen very often, if at all. Nalani's eyes are another matter of business. He was born with a strange form of heterochromia. One of his eyes is black while the other is red. There doesn't seem to be any hindrance to his vision, yet he has a tendency to keep the red eye covered by an eye patch to keep people from staring. However, he does have a tendency to flaunt off this eye. He has gotten a corneal tattoo on the eye so that the white of his eye is, instead, black. This is one of the main reasons why he does wear an eye patch whenever out in public, but he will switch the eye patch to his other eye whenever he hangs out with certain people or partakes in unfavorable and possibly illegal situations. Standing at just a hair past five feet and five inches, he doesn't stand out too much unless you're looking for his shaggy white and/or black hair. His build is lean and lithe, though he keeps this hidden behind baggy sweaters or shirts and skinny jeans. Dressing up isn't something he does a lot unless the situation calls for it. Personality:
History: The fleeting love between a Rakuen native and a traveling businessman from the Kalos region was not welcomed in the small family from Pacu Village. There was turmoil until the bitter end as the parents of the young woman were against her marriage with the foreigner. His own parents did not even attend the wedding, sending back the wedding invitations and never giving them their blessing. Too soon after came the woman's pregnancy, and the man was eager to move them to the main island so that their child could have a "more fulfilling" life with more choices. Reluctantly, the woman followed the wishes of her husband despite knowing that he only wanted to go so that he would be closer to work. After the birth of their beautiful baby boy, there was a strain on their couple's marriage. His father worked too much, his mother worked too little. Nothing seemed to be enough for them, and they began to nitpick everything about each other. Little Nalani was left to watch in silence, clinging to the fabric of pants whenever he wanted something, yet waiting in silence with teary eyes until his parents would stop arguing long enough to pay attention to him. His father was never home for very long. He mainly came home late at night and left early in the morning. He was only ever home for full days during the holidays or whenever he was allowed to use his vacation days. He rarely spent his vacation days with his family, instead going out to the bar with his friends or sleeping the day away. He definitely was not the Prince Charming that his mother had originally thought him to be. He was six when his grandparents on his father's side came over to visit. All they did was nag, gripe, groan, and make their day hell. His mother could never seem to keep them happy, and not even the squishy face of a three year old seemed to make them loosen up. As soon as his father came home, things only got worse as he began to agree with some of the things that they were saying. It was the last straw for his mother, and she packed up her things and Nalani's things, grabbed the boy by the hand, and dragged him out of the house. They ended up staying in a hotel until she was able to get tickets to Pacu Village. The two stayed in the village for two years as his mother filed for divorce and began the long process of trying to gain custody of her son. His father visited only twice during that time, and Nalani was forced to remain by his grandparents' side while the two went away to only Arceus knows where. Playing innocent to the matter, Nalani did whatever his grandparents asked of him, be it chores or tending to the family silk farm that involved various bug type Pokemon. He quite enjoyed helping on the silk farm, especially after he got over the weird faces that bug type Pokemon had. Time flew by as he waited for his mother to come back from his visiting father or from summons to court. Not long after his eighth birthday, his mother finally won the custody battle... partially. They were given joint custody with his mother being the main guardian while they were required to have Nalani be with his father every other weekend. The next few years were spent going back and forth from his grandparents' house in the village and his father's apartment in Crystal City. It was hard for him since all of his friends were in the village while he was alone while at his father's apartment. Weekends were dull and boring, and he either spent them lounging around, doing homework, or he would go about and wander the city. Too many times has he gotten lost in the winding streets of the city, and too many times has he stumbled across some things he shouldn't have. He was twelve when he found a gang within the city, and that was the start of his descent from the innocent, understanding child that his parents knew. The gang was willing to take him in, thinking that conditioning him while he was still young would be better than some punk teen who thinks they are on top of the world. The every other weekend only thing, however, was off-putting. After gaining his trust and admiration, they told him that he should just move to the city. They had their own hideout, and he could just live there instead of waiting around for his time with his father to come. Nalani accepted the offer. No longer did he go to school. No longer did he leave on the next boat out to the other island. No longer did he have any contact with his parents, only leaving his mother a note that he wished to move in with his father. The street life was much more exciting than helping on a silk farm or waiting around for the weekend to end. They taught him hand-to-hand combat, how to fire a gun, and how to use a basic knife to his advantage. As he grew, they began to shape him into whatever they wanted him to be, like a Poochyena loyal only to its master. As he became a more prominent member of their street gang, they decided that it was time to change his appearance. He willingly let them do what they pleased, and he dyed his hair under their orders and even got a corneal tattoo in one of his eyes to not only accent the red iris it had but to make it harder to identify him whenever they were out and about. Cover up the other eye with an eye patch or a mask and he was good. After he turned eighteen, he decided that he wanted to start training Pokemon. The gang was a little hesitant on letting him, after all the work they put into him, but he reassured them that he would come back, check in, and whatnot. Having Pokemon on their side would mean that they would be able to handle the other gangs in the area with ease. Hell, he even promised them that they could try and take over the entire city once he was ready to officially come back, but that was more of an empty promise than anything else. Regardless, they finally agreed. He did not leave for the laboratory in the city, however, until he turned nineteen. Faceclaim: TOKYO GHOUL, kaneki ken Made by: N A M A Z U |
