If I don't say this now I will surely break As I'm leaving the one I want to take Forget the urgency but hurry up and wait My heart has started to separate There now, steady love, so few come and don't go Will you, won't you be the one I'll always know? When I'm losing my control, the city spins around You're the only one who knows, you slow it down
He had left the city and headed straight for route one. the better choice might have been route two if he was planning on traveling, but that wasn't exactly what he wanted. he needed to get stronger. he needed to add to his party. yet, he could not do that without forming some sort of reasonable bond with his new companion first. the pads of his fingers drifted across the smooth surface of the pokeball in his hand as he trod through the tall grass of the route. Despite coming straight out of the city, there were no true roads. nothing was paved, and the only trail was from constant travel on foot, hoof, or vehicle. turning around and allowing himself to walk backwards, his uncovered eye watched as the city began to get smaller and smaller on the horizon while the sun began its descent towards the distant city. yet, it was quickly overshadowed by the cliffs that surrounded it, and he lost sight of the city very quickly.
he shook his head and brushed his white bangs to the side with his thumb, pausing as he turned himself around. he halted his steps, figuring he had traveled out far enough. his thumb pressed down on the button in the middle of the pokeball, releasing the shrew held captive within. the cyndaquil looked around, briefly confused as to why he was not surrounded by the walls of the laboratory, before remembering and turning to look towards his new trainer with squinting eyes. nalani crouched down, ignoring the grass that tried to sneak underneath the hem of his jeans to rub against his ankles. he reached out his hand to the cyndaquil, and he frowned as the shrew turned his head away.
nalani let out a sigh, leaning forwards as he plucked up the cyndaquil by the scruff of his neck and stood up, pulling the fire type away from the tall grass. the pokemon squirmed in his grasp, even going as far as to ignite the fire on his back to get rid of the offending hand. Nalani did not blink, instead adjusting his hold so that his hand was only attacked by the heat rather than the flames themselves. "you're gonna have to accept me sooner or later." no response other than struggle. "from today on, you will be known as Elis, okay? being given a name means that i won't let you leave me so easily. I'm not gonna give up on you simply because you've lost faith in humanity or somethin'." the cyndaquil seemed to cease his squirming, his body going limp. he could see the gears slowly turning in the shrew's head, however, and a smirk formed on his lips.
The grass was quite nice that sunny day. It brushed against the skin of the Hoppip as she bounded along through it. Her head was the perfect disguise, making it hard to see her unless someone was really looking for her. The warmth from the sun was causing her to feel quite overjoyed and quicken her pace. It was then that she felt something extraordinarily warm, lulling her in. Closing her eyes and letting the heat guide her, she moved forward. The heat felt so amazing she just had to soak up every bit of it that she could. That is when she ran into something. Opening her eyes she saw that she had run into a trainer. A TRAINER?! That was horrible mistake. She panicked. What was going to happen? It was a trainer?! It would catch her and make her a prisoner forever and she would lose everything that she loved. Sunshine, warmth, grass, everything. She started crying without a clue of what to do. Should she run? Would it run? She should hide? Instead she just kept crying.

triumphant over his first win with the cyndaquil in a psychological battle, he crouched back down so he could set the shrew in the grass. it was probably uncomfortable to be held by the scruff of your neck in midair, and he knew he would not enjoy it one bit either. as soon as he released the fire shrew, the cyndaquil jerked his body away and flopped over, rubbing his back against the grass to get rid of the lingering feeling of fingers pinching at his pelt. it must have been very unpleasant if this was the reaction he was given. nalani let out a sigh, reaching back with one of his hands and rubbing at the back of his neck. one victory was not going to win over the trust of the cyndaquil. he would have to work hard, but... it wasn't going to be too bad. after all, it would basically be like gaining his own trust. hard, full of struggle, but worth it in the end.
the white haired boy was broken out of his thoughts as a small mass hit behind him. he blinked, confused, and shifted, looking over his shoulder with his visible eye. he arched a dark brow, unimpressed by the pink creature behind him. as he turned fully around he began to notice how the pokemon quickly began to cower as they noticed what they had bumped into. was his back really that scary? he observed the pokemon for a little longer as it began to cry. tch. weren't hoppip supposed to drift with the wind instead of run around in the grass? Just watching a random pokemon cry was making him uncomfortable, and it was the discomfort coming off of him that got elias to stop squirming in the grass and get back up, slowly crawling around his trainer to see what was happening.
"don't burn it. not yet." the cyndaquil was already breathing in, getting ready spew a few embers at the wild pokemon before nalani thumped him on the head, causing the cyndaquil to stop before he had begun to nurse his forehead. the boy reached out, figuring the hoppip was too engrossed in her crying fit to move. he kept his movements slow, controlled, with his palm facing up until the very last moment so he could use the pads of his fingers to wipe away the pink and green pokemon's tears. spontaneous weakness. won't happen again. hopefully. "y'really shouldn't leave yourself defenseless like that, kid."
The trainer that she had bumped in reached down and wiped the tears from her face. She looked up and stared at him. Why was this trainer not absolutely destroying her? Most of them were when they saw how strange she was. Well, this was a an opening, a small weak spot that had given her a chance to gain her bearings. The Hoppip was loosening her grip on the ground ready to pelt the trainer into oblivion when she saw a better target, the Pokemon that the trainer would be fighting with. The tiny little mouse-like creature was poking his head around from behind the trainer. So, she took her chance with the wind picking up and let go of the ground. On her way traveling backwards through the air in a single little hop, she opened her mouth and unleashed a fury of glowing seeds aimed directly at the mouse. After she had shot all that she could, she swam down slightly and landed on the ground, gripping it for dear life again though ready to do another hop at any given moment.

Ah, that's right. this was a wild pokemon. showing some amount of kindness was not going to do very much. the pokemon around here were probably hardwired to attack trainers and their pokemon. he could see why since countless other trainers probably began their journeys here and caused quite the population decrease within the first few years. survival of the fittest and all that. with his gaze following the small pink and green pokemon, nalani allowed his weight to fall backwards, sitting him down in the tall grass as the wind began to pick up. the grass swayed around him as he parted his lips. "watch out, elias." as his words slipped through his pale lips, the hoppip took to the air. the cyndaquil, choosing to ignore the warning from his trainer, let out a faint cry as small bullet like seeds rained down upon him. the cyndaquil shook off his head, igniting the fire on his back as he let flurrying flames towards the hoppip, pulling his head and aim down as the hoppip began its descent towards the ground.
"fine, don't wait for a command. just don't burn the route down." Nalani leaned back on the palms of his hands, watching as the battle unfolded. this would allow him to find out about the cyndaquil's fighting style, and, hopefully, he would be able to build off of that.
As soon as the seeds hit the little Cyndaquil it lit itself ablaze, casting fire towards the descending Hoppip. She tried to land faster but the wind had other plans for her, causing her to get hit directly by the fire. She cried out in pain, the top of her head singed. She snuggled herself low in the grass trying to think. The enemy trainer was about to kill her! The fire type would surely be the end of the poor little pink ball. She knew that if she reemerged from the grass she would be blasted into a tiny pile of ashes. An idea came to her. With the wind dying down, she let go of the ground, hopping out of the tall grass and creating her own fairy wind around her. The sparkling breeze was aimed straight for the fire-mouse with the after shock pushing the small Hoppip backwards a bit. She was hoping that while the create was trying to dodge she would have a chance to sneak in another attack, quickly positioning herself for some Acrobatics. The sun as her power source, she gathered all of her might and pushed forward against the wind, going so fast she left double images behind her. She hopped behind the Cyndaquil, giving it a good smack as the wind blew her off to the left, interrupting her attack.
Attacks-- Fairy Wind, Acrobatics Turn one concluded. Turn two started.
